Question about HP (176135-630) (176135630) Internal 48x CD-ROM Drive
I have a hp pavillion dv6519tx laptop, my problem is that my cd rom and dvd burner or driver has disappeared, i cant burn or play anything.
Any hints or help would be great.
Go to Microsoft downloads, and look for the driver updates. If that doesn't work, then in their search bar for the driver E to download. I sent my computer HP to the manufacturer for small repairs,
and they put a newer version of XP on my computer, now I can't use lightscribe or burn a CD or DVD. I ended up haveing to buy a external hard drive to do these things. I went on properties for these drives and it shows they are full, if they are full they won't burn anything. My next step is to add more memory, mine is 512 memory at this time. But I will never send a computer to HP to be fixed again.
I have the CD that came with my computer, I put in it thinking it would restore my computer the way it was when I bought it new. A box popped up and said I had a newer version of XP on my computer,
and I was not able to use my CD that came with my computer. So there for I asume the newer version HP put on my computer did not have the drives for Lightscribe and Sonic. Another thing you may want to try is to turn your computer off by the turn off button. Then turn it back on, then a black screen
will come up and then start listing some options. On my grandsons computer I saw system recovery in the black box and it said to push the F10 on my Key board and that started a full system
recovery on his computer and it worked great, but when that black screen comes up and you see
the options, be fast if you see system recovery and hold down the key that it tells you to or it will be fast to go to your home page then you have to start all over again. I didn't do this on my computer, it won't do any good because instead of the HP manufacturer putting the original XP on my computer, they just decided to use what ever XP CD they had handy. Hope your computer will work for you.

Click on Start, Run, and type regedit and press Enter
Click on the plus signs (+) next to the following folders
This folder is the DVD/CD-ROM Drive Class Description in the registry. Look for any of the following names in the right hand column.
If any of the above keys shown in step 4 are listed, right-click on them and choose Delete
After deleting the keys, close the registry editor
Reboot your computer
Open My Computer and check to see if your CD or DVD drives have returned. You may also want to open Device Manager and verify that the yellow exclamation and error code on the CD or DVD drive is gone.
