My HP LJ 2420 printer always lost network connection
My HP LJ 2420 printer is on a network. Everything was right till a month ago. Since then after power on it works properly, but after a short while it lost connection. I cannot even ping it. After a power off and on it works again. Please help me, 'cos I'm tired to always go to the printer and turn it off an on again :)

I would recommend replacing the JetDirect card in your printer. What model is the card? The 600, 610 and 615 can be replaced with a newer 620. Make note of all of the IP address info before replacing the JetDirect card. If you send more detailed info, I can make sure that I send the correct info that you need.

As i understand your concern you have network printer which you want to setup with your network. And right now your printer is connected with the computer using a usb be cable. Thats the main reason why it is having different ip address because it don't required any ip address once you tried to connect your printer through usb cable. I can suggest you that once you connect your printer on the network and you will get the option to network setup on your printer where you can assigned static ip to you printer which is the range for your router or network device called DHCP.
I believe that will help your resolve your concern.
A critical firmware error has occurred. Hp suggest reseating memory modules and upgrading the firmware, but i've found in the past if by turning it off and on a few times doesn't cure it the formatter board needs replacing (quite common on this model)
Scan over wireless network is not supported with this printer. You can try set it up and get scanner to work with usb and then change port from usb to HP standard TCP/IP for the device, but I don't think it will work.
HI there have you tried the toner cartridge as this could also cause this problem? Also change the transfer roller and are the bands going from left to right or from up to down. If the bands are left to right change both if up to down more likely to be the toner cartridge.
