Hi I received my tomtom go 720 yesterday, worked fine out of the box. When I connected to computer, it seems to get confused with the software that was already installed for my tomtom one XL I have also with WE maps.
Now my tomtom 720 is disconnected it at first said no maps found, now says 'problem with map' 'WE maps not compatible on this device' yet they came installed on the internal hard drive??
If you have two devices you must have two email address. One for each device. This is the way tt home works. Another way to get around it is to open tt home preferances and in general preferances make sure remember my password is not checked. Sometimes a popup will want you to log in just click not this time at the bottom left cornor and then tt home will go on and update your device without loging in.
Hope this helps

Hi if you go to tomtom's website and plug in the data cable you will be able to update it, there is a fee for updates not sure the exact cost. Here is the link http://www.tomtom.com/page/mapupdateservice
I had the same problem. I tried uninstalling software and re-installing it. That did not help. I reset my TomTom Go 720 with the reset button on the bottom of the unit. The computer then recognized my TomTom.
This happens with my cell phone all the time too, just have to go to manage phones and delete my phone then re-configure it and that seems to fix it for a while at least. Also night & day always has to be done manually, it won't change automatically that i'm aware of. I'm pretty sure i had to download some of the free voices from the TomTom Home or website initially, in any case i prefer to use my TomTom 720 without voice as becomes annoying listening all day nag nag nag blah blah blah.
List of Compatible Phones can be found here. http://www.tomtom.com/phones/compatibility/devices.php If you had your old voyager connect, make sure when you connect the new voyager, delete the phone on your tomtom in the manage phone option and delete the tomtom from the mobile in the bluetooth/paired devices option. Then try again and get the tomtom to connect to your mobile.
what you need to do, hold the reset button for 20 seconds which is located at the bottem of the tomtom (make sure to use a pin or similar in size). then connect the tomtom to the computer and turn it on. this should reconnect and allow you tomtom to communicate with the computer
TomTom Home now has a fix which corrects the stuttering problems with the computer voice needed for the 'text to speech' function on the GO720. Simply plug your device into your computer and have it connect with your computer. You should automatically see a large fix available which will correct the problem. Download it as I did, and the problem is corrected.
The phone you are trying to connect are not listed in this list here http://www.tomtom.com/phones/compatibility/devices.php one thing you can do, look for a phone in that list, if it does not connect to your tomtom then there could be an issue with your tomtom bluetooth.
if it was connecting before and you updated to version 8.300 then again it may be the application version that can cause the issue.
