My Ruud achhiever 90 starts to fire but as soon as the blower fires the burner goew out. I also noticed that the "igniter" on the end isnt firing. Could that cause the burner to not stay lit when the

There is an ignitor and a flame sensor. If the ignitor does not ignite the gas after a time, it goes out. If the flame sensor does not detect ignition the gas valve closes. When you start it you should see the ignitor come on like a light bulb and glow, then the gas valve opens and you get ignition. Then the flame detector turns on when the ignitor goes out. Flame detectors are like a chrome wire that has one connection to it and it sits part of the way in a burner. They get dirty and corroded. When that happens it shuts down. You can clean the flame detector with steel wool of scotch brite pads. Dont get too carried away doing that though.

I live in los angeles. Having this unit up against a screen (screen Door) does this pose as a fire hazard? I was told to remove it as it is a fire hazard.

Yes, i expect it could, if it caused the AC unit to unexpectedly overheat and start a fire. It's better to be safe, than sorry.

Hope this helped answer you question and thanks for choosing FixYa.

Need to know the kw of the fire as I have just moved house and there is no plate on the inside of the fire. Thank you.

Do you need to know the Kilowatt (KW) of the fire (KW is Electric output) OR the BTU Output (British Thermal Unit) which is heat ?

I am renewing the fire bricks to a Baxi Brunell open fire. What compound is used to fill between the new fire brichs and the chimney construction.

In the UK they sell small tubs of "fire cement" which is a white pre-mixed cement in a tub. I'm sure that will do the trick!

It's stopping and starting(fires up for a few seconds, stops and fires up again).i cleaned the filters's a small bit better after this but still fires on and off.radiators were only at half temp.

In a furnace, opposite the sparker or hot-surface ignitor, (usually to the left) is a "flame rod" that senses the fire. Pollutants cover it with oxidation and can't "see" the fire. Gently "dress" it with steel wool or very fine sand-cloth. Dryer sheets are often the culprit!

I have been told that I need to buy a new gas fire because the thermocouple is not working and needs replacing.Unfortunately the fire is approx 10-12 years old and no longer made hence the heating engineer...

I think before I went to the expence of buying a new fire place I would remove old thermocouple and take it to a heating equipment supply house and see if they can find a replacement. Most equipment manufactures don't make their own controls, such as thermocouples, gas valves ,sensors and other equipment. Many chain stores such as true value have good knowedgable people and if they don't have what you need they may know someone that does. I hope this helps you. thanks
