You both seem to have different problems. "Guest", you say you installed a new ink cartridge adn the ink light keeps flashing. Possible causes and solutions can be found at the following web page:

    Blinking Ink Cartridge Light

MaryJoice, you say you installed a new ink cartridge and NO ink light flashes. I'm not sure if your message is a typo or not. If you installed a new cartridge but aren't receiving any indications of an error but you can't print, it's hard to diagnose the problem without more information. There is such an error that involves a printer connected to a Windows Vista computer using a USB cable, but I don't know if this is your problem.

Can you please post back more information about your problem? The only guess I can make based on what you've said is that there's an issue with the cartridge:

1: Check and see if the protective tape has been removed from the cartridge.

    2. Check and make sure the cartridge is seated correctly

    3. Check and see if the contact between the cartridge and print carriage are unobstructed with ink, dirt, or other foreign matter.

Like I said, if none of what I've mentioned seems to be the problem, post back more info, such as your computer's operating system and anything else you can think that might be relevant or may have changed that cause be contributing to this issue.

    Thanks.

I have the same problem. Changed cartridges many times before but did not have any problems. This time the orange light keeps blinking after putting in new cartridges.

you need to print only in black if that is all the ink you have, and also you need to remove the color cartridge as it still registers in the printer as able to be used, although it is empty or near so. Did you remove the tape over the print head fron the new ink cartridge? Do a print head alignment, or use the toolbox icon to tell the printer that you just replaced the cartridge. Some HP models chip the ink cartridges so even a refill wont register as a full tank and the printer wont print. chip needs to be reset (difficult) or just replaced with a new cartridge.

SOURCE: I have a HP Deskjet F380 All-in-One. Error light keeps flashing.

Normal 0 Driver could be corrupt.
Disconnect the printer or at least be sure it is turned off. I'd do both and reinstall the CD software program that came with the printer. When the software program asks you to connect the printer to the USB port, do so and it should again work properly.
Hope this helps. Bud

  • Remove the cartridges.
  • Turn off the printer.
  • If the cartridges are leaking, put the print head on some tissue, so it can extract the excess ink. With a dry cloth, clean your scanner. Look inside the printer. If there is ink in there too, clean it. Use a lot of tissue or toilet paper. Might put some gloves on too.
  • When you make sure that the cartridges are not leaking anymore, gently wipe the electric contacts on them, and clean the ones on the cartridge carrier.
  • Turn the printer on.
  • Try printing.
  • If the cartridge light keeps flashing:
  1. If a computer message indicates a specific cartridge, that is the problem cartridge.
  2. If there is no computer message, look at the Start Copy lights - if the Black Start Copy light is blinking, the cartridge on the right is the problem cartridge.
  3. If the Color Start Copy light is blinking, the cartridge on the left is the problem cartridge.
If you find out which cartridge is the problem, you will need to replace it.
Unfortunately, the ink that has leaked inside, might have damaged your printer.

Printer not accepting new black ink cartridge

put that cartridge in and perform a head cleaning process, and allignment... follow the procedure (2 or 3 times if needed) and in the end, shut down the printer, disconnect usb cable (both end), then wait for some time, aprox. 20 sec. and then put both end in again, turn printer on and wait for ready signal or some sort of confirmation that all is ok... If not, replace or update the printer driver and software, or reinstall all printer software.

Teardrop light is flashing yellow. Green clock at left is lighted. Control panel says everything is ready but it won't print. There is no paoper jam.

Hi there,

This light that is showing the Print Cartridge Status. Here is what you can do:

If the light is on and not flashing: Check to see if a print cartridge is low on ink. If a print cartridge is low on ink, consider replacing the print cartridge. If neither print cartridge is low on ink, press the Resume button. If the Print Cartridge Status light remains on, turn off, then turn on the printer.

If the light is on and flashing: Verify that the correct print cartridges are installed.

Follow these steps:
1. Open the printer's top cover, remove the black or photo print cartridge, then close the cover.
2. Do one of the following:
  • If the light is flashing: Open the top cover, replace the print cartridge you removed, then remove the tri-color print cartridge. Go to step 3.
  • If the light is off: There is a problem with the print cartridge you removed. Go to step 3.
3. Manually clean the print cartridge.
After cleaning the print cartridge, reinsert it into the printer. If the print cartridge status light continues to flash, replace the print cartridge.if the light is on and not flashing. Check to see if a print cartridge is low on ink. If a print cartridge is low on ink, consider replacing the print cartridge.

Ink light keeps flashing -

Have you made sure that you've taken the plastic strip off of the ink cartridge? I had this problem once and I then realised that i had forgotten to remove the strip covering the ink.
Also, have you installed a colour cartridge? I have the same printer and it wont print unless you have both ink cartridges inserted and in good condition. (If you don't want to fork out for HP Original, I find that the Tesco Remanufactured versions work fine)
Hope this helps.
