Its most likely bad. put the leads from a test light on the terminals of the motor and press the pedal. If the light DOES turn on, you have a bad motor, or at least bad brushes in the motor. Most likely, the light will not come on, and you should check all the wiring for loose connections or faults going from motor to the pedal switch, and from battery to switch. The switch should be a momentary contact switch, and cheap universal replacements can be found at hardware stores, auto parts stores(NAPA is your best bet), and radio shack. Bring the switch with you to the store! Also, use the test light on the wiring coming off the switch going to the motor right at the switch. If the light comes on, and the switch is good, that'll tell you that the wiring from the switch to the motor is faulty somewhere.

If you have a clicking noise but it doesn't turn, it may be a bad gearbox. You can replace the peg perego gearbox, but make sure the wires are secure on the motors. I found them at this website

They also helped me with other problems I had with the vehicle.
hope this helps

first of all check for at least 6 volts from the battery and the charger, you can test this using a multimeter, if the battery doesn't show any volts, lift up one side of the plastic housing on the top and verify that both the positive and negative wires are plugged in

Is there a way to test the motor on the 6v peg perego john deere e tractor.

  • Yes you can. You have to disassemble the tractor to expose the motor. When the motor is exposed you will take a couple jumper wires and bypass the pedal switch by going from the positive on the battery to the positive on the motor and the negative on the battery to the negative on the motor. Have someone lift the rear end up just enough to get the wheels off the ground and let them free spin. If when the battery is fully connected to the motor the wheel starts spinning the motor is good. If not then the motor is bad. Make sure to use the actual tractor battery only. Also make sure the battery is fully charged so you get a good diagnose on the motor. If you are unsure if the battery is charged then use a multi meter to check the voltage of the battery and make sure it reads 6volts before going to test the motor.

  • Here are a couple links to help you get to the motor.

Lost directions to charge battery

you need to charge the specific power wheels charger into your battery.
I have a power wheels jeep and a peg perego gator but had to get 2 different chargers for them.
I charge my batteries up for about 18 hrs at a time and they seem to run fine.

Peg Perego Polaris 4 wheeler, won't move

May need battery or is just rusted!
I'd buy a can or two of WD 40 or similiar lubricant and spray it all over all the rusted metal I can get to then turn the wheels by hand as much as possible but that's just me!
Good Luck!
