Question about HP Laser Jet CM2320NF Laser Printer MultiFunction Color 600dpi 21ppm 1

Open Question

Over the past 5 years I have used an HP4100 MFP to print text files from a spooled printer that delivers raw text to HP print driver. Recently I purchased a new CM2320 MFP from HP expecting to do replace the 4100. However even though I have set the lines/page to 63 lines on the new printer (just like the 4100), I can only get 60 lines per page regardless of what I do. I don't understand why. If I take the same back end system and deliver my raw text file to an HP4600 where I also set the number of lines to 63, this printer works fine too. At this point in time on the CM2320, I know I have correctly set the number of lines to 63, but no matter what else I try either by changing setpoints in the XP driver or at the printer, the output is always 60 lines/page. Why?

SOURCE: Slow printing of Acrobat pdf files on HP Laserjet 1300

Hey look, sorry for all the BS you've been given. Its an issue here.

How much ram does your laser jet hold right now?

This would be the choke point on an HP laser jet.

A typical PDF file in high res can be many many megabytes in size and the HP Laser treats these documents as an image file, same in true in Windows, but uses local ram not printer ram like an Apple.

So, if you have a 256K chip, its possible, on your printer and the file is 4-6 MBs in size, you could be looking at a 16-20 minute print job.

I'm not familiar with any tricks to get your printer to use local ram as a cache. If you have Boot Camp, you might consider starting that emulator up and printing from that interface. No real hope for a difference but its worth the try.

Hope that give you some real thoughts to chew over.

Go to the Printer Properties, Printing Preferences, or Document Defaults are Displayed in an Unexpected Language so trie changing the language from there if not then there are two ways to correct this problem. The first is to download the printer driver from the HP Web site and install it. Laser jet 2430tn printing slow

Check the way your print Jobs Spool up in your PC. you may have a totally different set up for printing in your new computer that takes two or three extra steps(such as spooling the print job) prior to actually sending it to the printer to be printed. If you have a user manual for your new computer, check the printer set up and see if it is set up to print directly to printer or print to spooling folder then to printer. Also try a different driver if you wish, I know the 2430 can use either PCL5 or PCL6 drivers... I'd start there and see if there is a difference.... the problem isn't your printer obviously its the way your computer is communicating to it. Best of luck to you.

1020 PRINTER DRIVER HP

There are no drivers for fixya but I have found a workaround by some anonymous poster

Xp software&drivers will work in Vista after a little tweaking in printer properties.

1)Install the CD-Rom HP Software/Drivers that came with your Printer at the time you purchased it. These Xp software&drivers are Vista Compatible after tweaking the Printer Properties. Reboot after installing.

2)Goto Start/Printers. Right click HPLaserJet1020 then Left click Properties. An HPLaserJet Properties window should have popped up.

3)Click the Advanced Tab. Click the Print Processor button located at bottom of window.

4)Select print processor as>>>IMFPrint. Then Select Default Data Type as>>>RAW. Click OK.

5)Now return to the Main HPLaserJet Properties window and click the General Tab. On the Bottom of that window; Click the Print Test Page Button. Finished! A test page should be printing out if you adjusted the printer properties correctly. Enjoy!

optionally you may have to disable print spooling

Quote "This did not work for me until I changed the option in that same window (advanced settings) to "print directly to the printer". Spooling does not work. "
