Question about Behringer POWERED MIXER, 20 CH, 400 WTS AMPLIFIER => Model PMX5000 Car Audio Amplifier

1 Answer

BEHRINGER EUROPOWER pmx 1000

When turned on lots of "popcorn noise appears"
Seems to be related to the Voice Canceller switch.
Do you have any experince with this problem. Any idea as to where to get parts?
Thanks Claus Henriksen

The voice cancellor switch basically subtracts the left and right signal because the vocalist is usually centered... The noise would likely be in an op amp associated with this feature...

Compare your circuit to a PMH1000. On that unit first thing to check is the two electrolytic caps at the left and right noise cancellor outputs.

There are a wholle bunch of resistors and IC's 48,50,37 are all involved.

Troubleshoot this one with freeze mist (ccircuit cooler). The problem should show up easily by heating and cooling.

180 watts mixer/amplifier and 400 watts speakers

Hiya, they are thermally or DC protecting. You will have to add some extra cooling if you can, external fan etc. Bottom line is you are going to have to crank it down a tad or increase amps and speakers. If its DC protection, its because the distortion levels are 2 high. Very easily achieved with mics not compressed. Again, try tone them down a tad.

Hope that helps

BEHRINGER PMH1000 POWER MIXER FAULT - TRIPS HOUSE ELECTRICS

THIS MAY BE NORMAL. The starting transients can trip RCD's or GFCI's as we know them due to high frequency components that are not balanced due to capacitive coupling. IF you have the inputs connected to OTHER devices such as effects modules that also have line power to them there may be a ground loop.
ALWAYS connect any interconnected device to the same power source for equipment safety. Behringer is stingy on schematics.
You MIGHT try using a decent line filter to supply the unit. It has been a while since I repaired my 1000, but I don't recall any specific thing in the design to unbalance the current, HOWEVER the power does go through a thermal switch on the heat sink for the power transistors and the wiring CAN be dressed so that it might couple to the other internal wiring AND the safety ground. Suggest you try a small lamp in series with the safety ground (third wire) to see if you get any appreciable current there during startup. Make an adapter... DO NOT cut into your power cable to do this.

If the shaft broke, then you will have to replace the whole encoder for it. You cannot glue a shaft and expect it to hold.

New behringer powered mixer, comes on, but doesn't hear anything.

Fan comes on with temperature rise. Not a problem if off till you start driving speakers loud.

Make sure standby switch is up. The slide switch is up to A/B.
The main fader iis up. Your input fader(s) are up. The trim controls are up enough. Inputs are plugged to input and not the inserts.

Be careful... this unit has a lot of power and can blow speakers.

Behringer ep1500 versus behringer eurolive b215 X 2- pa speakers.

The Amplifier will have wierd, notched, circular speakon cable connectors on the back, two, one for main left and one for main right. Press the button in on your speakon cable connector and twist it and lock it into place on the amplifer for right and left attachments, then do the same to your speakers.

Hopefully this helps.

Lanxar VW12D no sound after excess play

I'm not understanding what you mean by the "Sub doesn't even sound blown" if it doesn't play at all. One thing you can check is if you gently push in on the cone you shouldn't hear anything, if you hear a scratching noise and can feel resistance then you have a problem. If you have an OHM meter, you can check the voice coil impedance, it is a down and dirty way of checking to see if it is good or not. Measure all of the voice coils that you have and they should all read about the same, not necessarily exactly the same but pretty close. This test should tell you a lot. If it seems to test out fine there is something wrong else where. Let me know if you need more help.

JL audio hook up problems!!??

your w7 13's are dual 1.5 Ohm, but according to JL website, are 2.41 Ohms when the coils are in series. Each 13 connceted to each amp with voice coils in series is your best bet. The amps are designed to put out the same amount of power from 1.5 to 4 Ohms. If you parallel the voice coils, you end up with .6 Ohms and the amp will go into protect mode. You'll be drawing a lot of current, so you may want to think about 1/0 guage power wire, upgrade the wire from the alternator to battery (usually only 8 guage) and think about multiple batteries.
