Apex TV Service Mode

The service menu for this TV may be accessed by holding down the INPUT button on the TV and pressing 2580 on the remote. To navigate the service menu use the arrow keys on the remote. The center Enter button is used to go down into a submenu. The Menu button returns from a submenu. The exit key exits the menu.

There is an option to adjust Over Scan in the Picture settings menu. Set the positions to zero and the size to +100 for both horizontal and vertical. Then set the Sharpness to zero in the Picture Mode menu for each picture mode (optional, but sharpness makes text and sharp lines really ugly if you're using a PC).

I've owned this TV since Feb. 2013 and I've been disgusted with its lack of disable-able overscan and forced to use VGA to get a usable picture. The VGA port finally started going out (flickering colors) and rather than tearing it apart to resolder the VGA connector I tried to find a service manual again. Found one for a different Apex LCD TV but the service code was the same. It's like having a brand new, much better TV now! Overscan is the worst thing the TV industry ever did, it's totally and completely unnecessary on digital, pixel-perfect signals.

Maybe your BIOS switched to VGA output, try plugging in another monitor which has VGA input and change settings in BIOS for default output to DVI.

DVI ==> Digital Video Input
If your monitor has both DVI and VGA inputs,
and your PC's video-card has both DVI and VGA outputs,
then buy a DVI-to-DVI cable, and use it, for a better picture.
If your monitor has both DVI and VGA inputs,
and your PC's video-card only has VGA output,
then use a VGA-to-VGA cable.
Or, purchase a video-card with DVI output,
to replace the video-card with VGA output,
and then use a DVI-to-DVI cable.

I have a dell 2001fp. it is locked and can not access it to change it to vga, however it has a fine picture on dvi, any ideas

When you change to VGA, you have to change cables to a D-SUB cable. If you want to use S-VIdeo, you have to use an S-Video cable. You could actually have four different devices using the four different cables connected to the monitor one time, and change which one you are looking at by suing the button on the front panel to select the appropriate input.

Not The Bulb

The picture of no input goes off because monitors that do not recieve input go to sleep mode in an instant.

There are four possible causes. First, the cable is not firmly connected to either port, or the cable is damaged. Second, your graphics card could be damaged. Third, the resolution currently set for the machine could be set to a resolution that is too big for your monitor to support, or four, you could have switched your video input. You can change the video input from VGA to DVI and vice versa using the monitor's buttons. The input you want to recieve is from the VGA, though you are probably recieving DVI right now. Apart from that, I cannot help you further as you are not too specific with your information.

Dvi to vga

You will not benefit from the DVI input unless you have DVI output on your computer. The great advantage of DVI is that the picture is transferred in digital form all the way from your computer to the individual pixels on the monitor. If you only have VGA output on your computer then you will never get a better picture than by using a good quality VGA cable to link that to the VGA input on your monitor.

The DVI plug is designed to carry both digital and analogue (VGA) signals on the various pins, so "adaptors" exist to allow a VGA monitor to attach to a DVI output on a computer. Monitors may also support VGA input from their corresponding DVI input sockets, but the picture quality will never be better than by using a good VGA cable because it is still not using the digital capability of the DVI interface. What's more, because you may need more adaptors and thinner conductors in the cable, you will probably achieve a marginally poorer picture than with VGA to VGA.

When you next buy a PC or a new video card, get one with DVI to take advantage of your new monitor. In the meantime, your best bet is a quality VGA to VGA link.

Sorry that's not what you were wanting to hear, but I hope it will help you avoid further frustration.

To what I understand. Dvi and vga is only applicable to a system or CPU. Sorry if I am wrong.
