I forgot my password how can i log on to windows

how to reset or clear the BIOS password is to physically remove the power from the computer by disconnecting the power plug and then removing the Cmos battery for 30 minutes from the motherboard some motherboards cmos batteries are soldered in

Another way is to reset the clear CMOS jumper on the motherboard itself. Both of the 2 methods mentioned works because most motherboards use a battery to sustain the BIOS/CMOS settings for the motherboards PROM chip. So by cutting off cmos the battery power, the BIOS/CMOS settings will be erased
or if using XP

Restart your computer during the boot process tap the f8 button three times this will boot into safe mode where the only things working will be your mouse and keyboard enabling you to attempt to repair your computer Advanced Boot Options screen appears.

Select the Safe Mode option using the up and down arrow keys, then press the ENTER key. Choose "Windows XP Home/Professional", depending on the version of the operating system.

Press ENTER. Shortly, the welcome screen should show.
Log in as "Administrator". Click Yes to not use System Restore Mode.

Click the Start button. Choose Run and type in "control user passwords" (without the quotes). Click OK.

Select the "Administrator" user. Click Change my password. Enter a new password in the corresponding text boxes. Click OK. Write this password down and store it in a secure place Close the User Accounts window and restart Windows.
hope it helps

How do i remove or reset password for bios on samsung nootbook

Removing the CMOS battery like the one shown in the picture to the right will cause the system to loose all CMOS settings including the password. To do this locate and remove the CMOS battery on the motherboard for at least five-minutes. After this has been done put the battery back into the computer and turn it back on

If this does not help try these other methods

Hello, When I tried to reinstall windows on a formated drive, after I changed the boot sequence , before starting bios it requires a password. Plese help

Easiest way is to reset the BIOS. If you remove the battery, and leave it unplugged and without it's main battery and BIOS battery, it should clear it.

Follow these steps to remove / disable the BIOS (CMOS) Password on the Satellite A210 / A215 (PSAFGx ) models:

1. Turn the computer OFF, if it's on.

2. Remove the memory module cover, on the bottom of the computer.

3. Check the configuration of memory modules in the two sockets. It's necessary to have a memory module present in the outermost socket only.
  • If there is a memory module in only the outermost socket (the one farthest from the system board), then continue to step 4.
  • If there is a memory module in only the innermost socket, move it to the outermost socket.
  • If there are memory modules in both sockets, remove them both, then re-insert one of them into the outermost socket.
4. With the computer oriented as in the photo above, carefully peel back the black Mylar film. Pull this film to the side enough to expose the B500 solder pads (see photo below). Tape the film to the computer's case, as shown. Do not remove the film completely, because it may be difficult to re-attach it correctly.

5. Short the B500 solder pads on the system board. Needle-nose pliers or a flat-blade screwdriver works well to short them.

6. While continuing to short-circuit the solder pads, turn the computer on, and continue shorting the pads until the Toshiba Logo Screen disappears.

7. Re-position the Mylar film over the system board.

8. If you removed a memory module, turn the computer OFF, then re-insert it.

9. Re-attach the memory slot cover.

10. Restart the computer to verify that the password prompt no longer appears. If it does still appear, then repeat this procedure, starting with step 1.

I have a Toshiba Satellite A215-S744 Laptop and recently, when i wanted to power up the laptop for use, just popped up the BIOS password out of nowhere! I haven't set up any password for my bios! what...

Manufacturers sometime put BIOS passwords to protect system changes that may affect your notebook. To reset the BIOS password read the information from this link.

In case of your notebook the easiest method would be using software from Hiren's Boot CD as it's pretty hard to open it up and reach for the CMOS battery or the jumper and I wouldn't recommend doing it especially if it's under warranty.
