The GPS will not search for the satellites. The power comes on and I can view the phots (3) but the GPS will not work anymore. It is only 15 months old. Any ideas? It isn't a fuse problem. I removed and reinsatlled the chip in the side of it after I turned on/off the GPS accorkding to the troubleshoot guide. Help!

My BELL Expressvu 3100 Satellite Receiver doesn't power on. I tried the remote and pressing the power button on the receiver but the green light doesn't come on.

Question edited for clarity, full 'make model (what it is).

Try disconnecting for the wall outlet for 5 minutes as a power reset. also try this afterwards

If you can't see any picture on your TV, reset your receiver by pressing and holding the POWER button for 5 seconds.

If that doesn't work, phone Bell and they will bring you a new one.

I have a ifinder hunt GPS, it will not locate any satellites, it then prompts me to stop searching or continue to search for satellites. I have been trying this device over the last 10 months, mostly on...

With a normal GPS device, when you first switch it on, it needs some time to locate enough satelites. Most of the time it needs at least 5 satelites. Some time should be like minutes and not hours. After the GPS device fond enough satelites, it knows where it is and can when it is switched on again work faster. When you try to let the GPS search for satelites indoors, or without a free view to the sky, it is possible the receiver never can find satelites at all.
I don't know if any test of the Lowrance iFINDER Hunt GPS was placed on the net, but that is where you can check how long it should take for the GPS to find enough satelites.

Greetings . . . I turned my Garmin 2720 on in my

Take the GPS out of your van to an area with a clear view of the sky. Power the unit on. If the unit is working correctly, then it will acquire the satellites. You can then put the unit back in your van. You may have to reposition the unit to keep the satellite lock.

If the unit does not acquire satellites outside, then the unit is defective.

Magellan Roadmate 2036-mu will not find satellite signal at all. It straight out of the box. tried having it in clear view of the sky, and still nothing. Any suggestions?

Slide the power switch to turn it OFF and hold it in that position for about 20 secs or more. Release the switch and now restart the GPS by sliding the power switch again. The GPS should start up and start searching for satellites.

When i turn on gps message reads no gps signal if you continue search results may not be based on your current position. ok or cancel

Your GPS MUST have line of sight to the satellites.
Are you in the garage or is it a very cloudy day.
Also tall buildings can block some sat view the GPS must have at least 3-4 to work most link to 7-9 all the time. GPS do not work well in metro areas too many tall buildings.

Maestro 3100 will not change locations. I can be in Nashville, tn and it will have the screen on where I live in Ky.

the satellite are not linking up to your unit..

make sure it has a good charge, with the unit on press and hold the power button for 10 seconds after it shuts off. then press and hold the power button until it restarts.

take the unit outside in clear view of the open sky and let it aquire the saellites, indicated by the green bars in the top right of the map screen.

if they do not turn green, its not linking to the sats and you mgiht have another problem

let me know how you make out, so if it dont work, i can give you something else to try.

Garmin 260w won't acquire satellites

If a device is used daily it should be able to acquire satellites in a minute or less. Using a GPS device while it is outdoors with a clear view of the entire sky is the ideal condition for acquiring satellites. Please know that there can be several different factors that may cause a GPS unit to not acquire satellites:
  • If your unit is trying to acquire satellites for the first time, it may take longer than normal to establish an initial position. If the unit is powered on and outdoors with a clear view of the sky this should not take more than 3-5 minutes.
  • If your unit has not been used for an extended period of time (more then a month), it may take 3-5 minutes to acquire satellites.
  • If your unit is indoors, it may not acquire satellites. Even standing next to a window indoors will block a majority of the sky which is needed for a device to locate and lock onto a satellite signal.
  • If you have just finished updating the software in your unit or you have performed a master reset, your unit may take 3-5 minutes to acquire while outdoors as the data that is used to locate satellites may have been erased.
  • If your unit has traveled over 500 miles while turned off or not tracking your travel, it may take 3-5 minutes to acquire even in ideal conditions.
  • If your vehicle has a protective coating on its windshield or electronic devices which interfere with the unit receiving signal, your unit may need an external antenna* in order to acquire satellites.
    • If you suspect this to be an issue, try taking the unit outside of the vehicle with a clear view of the sky for 3-5 minutes so that the unit can acquire satellites. If your unit loses satellites once moved back into your vehicle you will most likely need an external antenna*.
If your unit is still having trouble acquiring satellites, please ensure that it has the latest version of operating software by using our WebUpdater program. Once your unit is updated please allow the unit to acquire satellites outdoors in a stationary position with a clear view of the sky.

Magellan gps 2000 won't lock in on satellites even after 3 hrs of trying- searching is on the screen telling me its searching

Possible solution, at least my GPS2000 finally locked up. Initialize; enter current location and time; wait until there are more than four (I had seven) satellites available; find a location nearby that has a clear view nearly to the horizon in all directions; place the GPS2000 on a stationary base with the antenna as horizontal as practical; wait; mine finally locked up after perhaps 30 to 40 minutes. Patience and an abundance of satellites, I think, are the answer. Good luck.
