Question about Singer Quantum XL-6000 Computerized Sewing Machine

18 Answers

Designs are not sent to the machine

My software will not work on my computer. I have tried three different computers. I went back to my husband's laptop which I used before and it worked fine. I cannot get it to communicate with the machine. I have changed cables, set the settings on my computer as one lady suggested. I cannot get anything to work. Diana

Right your cable is not USB , it is a com port serial cable, (male or female) and you can buy it at any computer shop for a couple of dollars. Take with you the old cable to buy a new one.

Try buying a replacement cable, if the cable is defective the software won't work.

Here is an example:

Hi,
There may be a conflict in your PC, because all the thing you have try to do.
Go to control panel and erase the program. Be sure that everything is erase, sometimes files may remain, go to the explorer and erase them manually.
Turn off the pc an re start it. Re install the software again, this will work.

The usb port of the machine may be messed up which will not allow it to communicate with the computer or let you get any patterns for your machine. Check to see if it will communicate with your computer to make sure by plugging it in and seeing if you can find it in my computer. If it doesn't appear, then there is probably something wrong with the port of the machine. You will need to get it checked up at a shop to confirm the suspicion and to get it fixed.

Oh, yours is a nine pin port. It still should show up under my computer. Make sure the hardware is installed by going to my computer, clicking on the c hard drive, and going to program files and see if the software is on there.

Install PSW1.0 on the computer where you want to use the software (not laptop). Next, download and install this:
PSW1.1WindowsCompatibilityPatch.exe

That will make it compatible and fully functional on all Windows platforms including Windows ME, Windows 2000 and Windows XP.

If you are running Windows XP SP2, then download this as well:
PSW11_WinXpSP2_Patch.exe

Once you have downloaded and installed the PSW1.0 on the computer, try to run an update to download the latest version of the software PSW2.0. Once done, install this as well:
PSW11_WinXpSP2_Patch.exe
That should resolve the issue.

The problem is either compatibility; try right clicking on the icon and selecting Properties and then Compatibility tab. Click on run this program in compatibility mode for: and try the different options. by selecting, clicking ok and trying to run the program and if it does not work then select the next one.

Or it could be a failed install either your ant virus picked up something and corrupted the install or the computer must have been running a lot of programs at the same time.

These kinds of problems are usually solved by switching off any constantly running programs such as antiques, firewalls etc until the program has been installed and then enabling them when installed.

Hello bardianadesigns are not sent to the machine - 0abc9d4.jpg
the software that you are running is i think for designing
which is not running on your computer

now listen you saying that soft ware is running on your husband laptop and it worked fine right
i"ll give you an example ok

suppose you have a software ok
1. it contains so many files when you install it
2. but in the mean time when you install other applications
3 then their drivers and files overlap each other so some files stop working
in that case
it can't uninstall completely
you have to clear its registry first
go to start> run > type regedit> then search it and delete it
my friend have the same problem
now it is fixed

thanks

Uninstall both programs. Reinstall only the Professional Sew Ware™2.00a and see if it will work. , the PSW doesn’t wantto share a port with another program. Perhaps there is another portthat you can use with your Palm Pilot.
A. Apatch is available to correct the compatibility issue with PSW 1.1& 1.0 and the newest versions of Windows®. Click here to download: Windows Compatibility patch for PSW.

    • Place the card into the slot of the converter
      box (writing facing up).

    • From the tool bar, Click on File.

    • From the drop-down menu, Click on "Write
      to Card Writer".

    • If you are using the card for the first
time the program automatically saves your design to the first
      empty space.

    • Click on "Write".

    • You may also select the desired space
by clicking on it and then click on "Write".

As long as the green light is flashing on the converter
box, this is an indication that data is still being transferred.
The card or the transfer should not be disturbed; to do so can cause
    a malfunction of the card

These directions are to be used if you have
purchased a USB/Serial cable to connect your converter or XL-6000®
to the computer. You must also connect the nine-pin serial cable
(this is a Null Modem cable) that came with the PSW or the XL-6000®
    to the USB/Serial adapter.

When trying to open the PSW® you will receive
a message - "Card Writer Not Found" or if using the Sew-Ware Conversion
Tool® the transmission will not go through.

Once this procedure is completed, it may be necessary
to re-install the software (especially the PSW).

In the Conversion Tool in the "Transmit to Machine
dialog" box be sure to set the COM port setting to the same number
that the cable has been set.

    Configuring USB/Serial Converter Cable.

After installing your cable's drivers from the
CD provided, you will need to change the COM port setting.

Find "My Computer" either under the Start Menu
or on the desktop. Right click. From the menu left click on "Properties"

In the "System Properties" dialog box left click
    on "Hardware".

Then left click on Device Manager.

This will open up a list of devices found on the
computer. They are listed alphabetically. You will see a heading
"Ports (Com & LPT)". Left click on the "+" beside it.

Double left click on the name of your cable.

This will open up the "Properties" dialog box.

Then left click on "Port Settings".

    Left click on "Advanced".

This will take you to the Advanced Settings.

Left click on the drop down arrow next to the COM
port number. Select the lowest numbered comport that is not in use,
    preferably 1 or 2.

Then move the Receive Buffer down to "8" and the
Transmit Buffer down to "11" by left clicking and dragging. This
    last step isn't always necessary.

After this last step click OK or close all screens
until you are back to the Desktop. In some instances it may be necessary
to delete and then re-install your Singer® software.

Remember to have both the Null Modem Serial cable
that was included with your PSW 2.00a connected to the serial side
of the new USB/Adapter cable. The Null Modem cable will then be
connected to the #1 port of the PSW 2.00a converterbox

The program loads fine I assume, what operating system is on the two computers (the one that does work and the one that doesn't). Try disabling all of the security on your computer while you try to get it to work. Possibly something is blocking it but please let me know if the OS is different between the two computers and if so, what is it on each as that may be the reason that it isn't working.

I think this is a port settings issue with the computers you?re trying to use....and or? you need to update the other computers with the PSW Communications patch that is located at this link http://psw-support.com/Downloads/downloads.htm Please make sure you are using the correct port on your computer when you have the Conversion Tool Cable connected. To check to see what port you are using connect the Conversion Tool Cable to you computer and Quantum XL-6000 Computerized Sewing Machine then right click on MYCOMPUTER and select Manage then select Device Manager the look under ports and see what port number you computer is wanting to use?then make sure your PSW software is using the same one??Should be a quick fix either way?..I hope this helps let me know if you need me to walk you through it? cbinny1

From the Singer Support page:

Q. Can I use a USB cable with the Conversion Software? A. A USB cable may be used with a USB-to-Serial (9-pin) conversion cable. For Window® 98, NT, 2000 & ME these conversion cables usually require that an software program (included with the cable) be installed on the PC in order for the computer to recognize the cable. Window® XP (or higher) usually does not require the cable software.

Q. How does the Conversion Software communicate with the Quantum® XL-6000? A. The Conversion Software and the PC communicate with the Quantum® XL-6000 through a special serial port cable called a Null Modem Cable, (Singer Part # 270-10D1-20206 for 6-foot cable, Part # 270-10D1-20210 for 10-foot cable). This special cable is a 9-pin cable with both a male and female end, one for the PC and one for the sewing machine. The wiring in a Null Modem cable is configured in a way to allow communication to flow both ways between the two devices, the PC and the machine. A straight serial port cable will not allow the information to flow back and forth. However, a Null Modem Adapter may be added to a straight serial port cable, creating the same effect.
So, looks like the XL-6000 is a serial device. You'll have the best luck using an actual serial cable. If you're using a USB to serial adaptor, it may or not work for no good reason. We've had overall lousy luck with the adaptors and tell people we have no idea if it'll work for your particular purpose/system. It very well may work with one setup and not at all with the other.

However, if you're using the correct null modem cable (ie, your computer has a serial port, the other 2 computers have serial ports, his laptop had serial port) then you've got another problem. I'd try uninstalling everything that has to do with the software and the machine, do a fresh install and see what happens.

you can use this guide to retrace the steps and mke sure the settings are correct

say what results you have encountered

if you uninstalled it , then go to C:/ program files , and look for the program folder if it still exsists delete it , as it may still hold inacurate info, which then every time you reinstall it will use that info for reference, so make sure there is no file left for it after uninstall

  • jason Oct 29, 2008

also make sure that any other files created by the program don't exsist either

  • jason Oct 30, 2008

thats why you have to make sure the com port is set up , please follow those directions and make sure you have everything set up properly

Hello,

Maybe the software you use is not compatible to your new computer. Is the machine detected by computer? and the computer cannot load to the system? in that case the operating system could not recognize the softwares. please try go to the machine website if they have an updates of the for your system. windowsxp xp drivers is not compatible in vista so you need a software for vista. else consult your vendor for the compatibility or in your machine documentation.

not the compitability of the laptop but the other machines in which you tried at your home are they having the same operating system as your laptop has.for example(windows--98--or xp or vista.)

both at home and office are u using the same operating system.

some times if at home u r using the operating system that is not compitable/suitable with the software you r using so it did not worked.but at the laptop in the office you have the operating system which is suitable for that software so it is working in the laptop.

this is the anti virus software which your system requires .if it is saying "PSW 1.0 IS NOT INSTALLED IN YOUR COMPUTER" you install it in your pc.and then try loading the software .

Does the Deco 340 Embroidery Machine use .ART or .EXP?

According to the manual for the Bernette Deco 340, the machine only reads .EXP+ files. ART files need to be converted to the EXP file type using the Bernina Embroider Software. (Even the designs on the Studio Bernina CD need the ART files converted to EXP.)

The manual is available from the Bernina support site: http://www.bernina.com/en-US/Support-5/Machines-en/bernette-deco-en . The direct link to the manual is http://www.bernina.com/getdoc/c6cc51e0-d5e9-4cb1-a7be-f164c0f4fdff/deco340_EN_GZD . (Note: you will need Adobe Reader or a similar program to access the manual.)

I'm surprised that you were able to get any .art files to work until recently.

I hope this helps.

My husband upgraded my cmputer but forgot to take the dongle off. Can I get a new one?

What did he do with the old computer? Can you get the dongle back? It would be useless for anyone else - you cannot even format them to use as regular USB sticks - and they are virtually irreplaceable. The replacement cost is the same as purchasing the software, I'm afraid. Either get new software or a new husband LOL! A cheaper alternative than the Husqvarna software is Embird. It's not my first choice personally, but is 1/10th the cost of the HV program and there's NO DONGLE!

Sorry, need a bit more information. Where does the design not show up? On the machine screen? On your computer software screen? What software are you using? What is it you are trying to do when the design is not showing?

USB drive does not regularly read the USB flash

I have a Designer I USB that suddenly started not reading the usb stick that came with the machine. I was terrified that my machine was going bad, but I always start with the cheapest solution first. I bought a new usb stick, loaded the designs from the old one into my software then loaded everything on the new usb stick. My machine reads it every time so far. I replaced the usb stick about 3 months ago and have not had another problem since. I don't know if this is your problem, but usb sticks can go bad and since they are so cheap, I would try this first.

My HP pavillion, window 7 cannot find the designer

You need to reinstall them, they will be on the communication disk that came with your machine or the 4D software cd if you purchased that.

I have purchased a Janome 9700 embroidery machine and it came with a disc of designs (jef format) . I have downloaded the designs on to the memory card and can view them via the computer but they do not...

Since you are able to view them from the ATA (Compact Flash) card on your computer and the designs are in *.jef format you should be able open them on your machine. Make sure you have selected to view designs from the ATA memory card and not the ones stored on the machine or from the External Card Reader box.
There is an additional program called Customizer that you can import designs, edit, and transfer them to your ATA card. Mine was part of my package deal when I purchased by 9700.

Have a Rose Husqvarna sewing machine and just purchased a Designer SE. Purchased a Rose reader writer for my cards and want to put them on the computer to use with my Designer. Can not find any...

If you bought your SE from a dealer they will be able to transfer those designs for you. If not, you need the Husqvarna Viking software so you can "read" the designs from your rose cards into your computer, then you will be able to send them to your USB stick for the SE.

The software really unlocks the potential for that machine. The first module of the software is about $400, comes with about 100 fonts and many designs and abilities to alter the text you want to sew. If you go up to the $900 option, you can cut designs apart and save different aspects of the design by themselves and also get an automatic digitizing option that works well. Husqvarna's web site shows their software in detail.

The Designer 1 needs the design in an shv format in order to read it. The floppy disk for an older machine may be created using several different programs but the Husqvarna Viking module is known as Disk Manager. It is included with many of the HV software packages. With a newer USB Designer 1, the program is Disk Manager USB.
