This may be caused by processoroverheating.

It's possible the heat sink is clogged with dust and has to be cleaned. You can clean the heat sink with compressed air, blow off the heat sinkthrough the grill on the bottom of your laptops. Some people usevacuums for removing dust from the heat sink. Or you can open the laptop case to clean the heatsink: http://www.laptoprepair101.com/laptop/2006/01/04/toshiba-laptop-overheating/

Alternately, click delete, F1, or F10 when your computer starts to gointo your BIOS and look for PC Health > Temperature (or similar). This should show you the current temperature of the computer andthe emergency shutdown temperature. The emergency shutdown temperatureis a safeguard that shuts your computer down to prevent damage when it gets to hot. If this setting shows that your processor is too hot, you should consider replacing the fan. Or you can either raise the shutdown temperature or switch it off completely, however be warned that you may damage your computer if the computer gets too hot.

Often, if a system turns off every time at roughly the same time, it's a hardware problem. System gets too hot, shuts down, restart it and it'll run again for a while, but not quite as long, and continue like that. Can you feel/hear the fan moving air? Possibly clogged, see what you can do to get it cleaned up a bit. Does it make any difference what surface it's on? May be covering a vent on the bottom or back.

Plugged it in to a wall outlet, turned on the computer, the microsoft screen scene appeared, the jingle played, then it turned itself off and won't turn back on.

Unassemble the battery and after 5 minutes reassemble it, then plug it in another wall outlet and when the charging light turn on, turn on the notebook.

Tip

Laptop will not turn on, laptop will not power on, laptop will not start

Make sure your laptop battery has a charge. Plug it into the wall outlet for 30+ minutes and then try powering it on. When you plug it into a power source, usually the laptop will have a light indicating that it is charging. Look for a light. If the light does not light up, try a different wall outlet.
If it still does not charge, you may have a bad power cord, a bad laptop battery, the wall outlet may be bad or the laptop itself is damaged and will need to be serviced by a technician or replaced.

Through the process of elimination you can narrow down possible causes.
-Try a different wall outlet(or by testing another device make sure the wall outlet is good)
-Try a different power cable.
-Try a different laptop battery.

If none of the above help then you may need to have your laptop repaired(internal damage) or replaced.

If your laptop is under warranty you should contact your laptop manufacturer or warranty policy holder to have it repaired or even replaced.

If it is not under warranty you should look for local computer repair shops or technicians.

-G33k
My vaio turned off suddenly an the side light was blinking when i was trying to turn it on. Now i doesn't even turn on.What should i do?

Hi There !!

Thank you for choosing fixya.com
It's could be because of two reasons.
1. The Laptop is Overheated
2. The battery of the Laptop has some problems.

To diagnose this:
Step 1: Let the computer, be turned off for 15-30 minutes. Unplug the battery, Unplug any external Hardware connected to the laptop. Could be any external drive or any thing.

Step 2: After 30 minutes of disassembling the laptop. Let's put the battery back in & don' plug the power chord. Just give it a try to turn it on without plugging it in to the power jack.

Step 3: Still no joy, Try to plug the power chord back again & try to adjust it. Because Power port detects the power cord only after much adjusting of the cord and putting a weight on top of the cord so that the cord somehow makes contact with the power port on the laptop.

This is really the case with Vaio & Acer laptop because of their complex design.

Step 4: Check the voltage of your CMOS battery. if your battery is low it will fail to power up the system. if you leave it sit for a long period of time, it may be having a chance to "recharge" itself. This step should be done by a professional, because you might damage other part of the machine .

If your computer in warranty, Call Vaio Helpline right know. And, if any chance your computer is little old dont call Vaio help line because they charge heavily. Contact the local tech shop, even for your reference http://www.compusa.com/ it's cheap & good service dealer for laptop.

Hope this'll direct you in the right direction.
