There's a selection on that screen for "last known good configuration" - try that, sometimes a driver that has been recently installed can cause a machine to crash on boot. If that doesn't help, you can attempt to boot from the installation CD that came with the computer and repair the system. Boot from the install CD, select ENTER in order to continue with the setup program (trust me, we're not going to do a full setup, but you have to choose the first option here...). More files will load from the CD - the next screen should be the repair screen - it should say "To repair the selected Windows XP installation, press R" - press R, and the repair should begin. Reboot after it's done.

Please rate this answer if it's helped you out, thanks!!

Everytime i go onto the internet on my laptop, after 2 mins, the screen goes blue, writing comes up telling me to check installed hardware and then it restarts itself, how can i resolve this problem??

Run a restore point to before this happened (IF Possible) and reboot. If not, you will need to enter in the exact error message into Google and follow instructions for going into registry manually and fix that way.

Probable virus / spyware attack

Hello,

You computer is really infected by virus and other spywares and malwares. Please try to reboot in safe mode bt preezing "F8" at first boot. select safemode with network and then enter.

when windows appear go to www.precisesecurity.com/antivirus/online-scan.htm

and then scan your computer online.

However; when the solution won't resolve the from safe mode windows go to start then, all programs, accessories, system tools, system restore click

then restore your windows to date where in no virus or in windows working properly date backward.

after restoring , download and install the antivirus..found here: http://free.avg.com/

note: uninstall the current antivirus if there is, two antivirus not advisable.
