Question about Honeywell Heating & Cooling

1 Answer

I have a Honewell CM921/927 wireless programmable room thermostat that is operating the combi boiler in AUTO mode even when the time setting is meant to be off (no output). The target temp is 20 deg and the room may be 21 deg for example, but still the flame icon appears on the lcd screen of the thermostat and the radiators are luke warm continuously. Once the time reaches a preset the boiler kicks in fully to give proper heating and the radiators become very hot. Any help to allow the thermostat to be left in AUTO without the continuing operation of the boiler out of any time settings would be appreciated. Regards Barry.

If the room is at the set temperature even when the rad are warm the boiler is doing its job. It takes steel rads up to an hour to cool down so if they stay warm to the touch that is normal. It takes steel rads a long time to heat up when they get cold so its cheaper to let them not get real cold.I was told not to put a programmable thermostat on our boiler simply because it takes a lot of gas to bring your house up even two degrees. I run a non programmable and set our heat at 72 degrees and do not touch it all winter. There should be a water shut off on each rad so if you want your bedroom cooler just shut that shut off on that rad off.

I would really call your installers back mate.

If you have anything to measure air temp with I will take you though some tests.

But at this point I would say that your air con does not have any gas and the installers should come back. If they will not come back you should contact Hitachi warranty

Hope this helps

OK I will be looking over the manual. Now that squeal sounds like the squirrel cage fan scraping the housing around it. Those units are so tight fit they can be twisted one way or tightened a little to much they scrape. I love them for there silence win they work right but hate them because my hand are too big to move things around inside them. Stay in touch I will be looking around while
multi-tasking today- I'll be here!

It sounds as if you you have a low charge of refrigerant, r22. When the unit comes on outside, the outdoor coils become the lowside, there is a low pressure switch that is tripping out contactor protecting the compressor.

My Baxi Combi 80e boiler turns the heating on randomly. With the wall thermostat turned down and even with the boil switched to hot water only the heating still fires up when unwanted.

If the thermostat wire run passes anywhere through, beside or inside any metal surfaces and the wires touch any of the metal its the same as if you turn the stat to on. I've seen this a few times. Easiet way to detect it, if its inside the house is at night in the dark. Look around when its doing this you may see the small spark when it goes on. Otherwise you will need to inspect the entire run from the stat to the untis, etc.

Require room thermostat for ferroli combi boiler optimax 25c . I have a honeywell at the moment which stopped working. it has two wires coming into it from the boiler

Get a Ferroli wireless programmable room stat. City plumbing supplies can get hold of them but you'd be looking at approx £130. Part number 30800009. No wiring involved, the receiver connects to the boiler pcb. Had same problem but now fine.

Alpha boiler - wireless programmer failing

it sounds like the problem may be in the boiler and not the controller itself. Do you kno which is are the two wores that are the r-w for the thermostat take and purt them together and see if the boiler stays on or shuts off like it does with the thermostat. If it does then replace the reciever. If it doesn't then you have another problem. Good Luck

I have a vitodens 100-w combi boiler and tried to turn the heating on just to give it a working as was advised. However, I have no heat coming to my radiators. The boilers seems to be working as my hot...

Here's the deal: If your Vitodens 100 has outdoor temperature sensing capability, either built in or via external aftermarket control such as Tekmar or other, and the temperature outside is above warm weather shut down (WWSD), then the boiler will not operate for space heating, but will operate to make Domestic Hot Water (DHW) only. Generally speaking WWSD is facoty set at 20*C, since this is normal room temperature so the boiler will not need to operate at temperatures above this number as it is warm enough outdoors to heat the house to comfortable levels.
If your Vitodens 100 does not have outdoor temperature sensing capability then you should check to see if your room thermostats are operational and calling for heat since the boiler is only responding to this on-off control based on room temperature. (turn up your room thermostats)
In both cases you need to make sure that your heating system's distribution pump and zone valves are operating correctly.
In any case you should be calling a heating contractor if you suspect that there is a problem with your boiler and/or heating system.
Good luck.

PROGRAMMABLE ROOM THERMOSTAT

I found this on a search:
"I have the full set of instructions, contact me at gjb@eggconnect.net
Not a very reliable system, transmitter keeps resetting to 17:25; locks up. Whole system then requires setting up from scratch. Had a replacement transmitter, no change, and same faults.
GJB"
Perhaps this can help.
