Samsung 57" Vertical lines across the screen. Is this repairable, and if so, is it costly?

Line faults & possible causes to LCD & Plasma screen are given with illustrations. You can get an idea about the fault to an extent. Faults to all LCD & Plasma screen are similar, irrespective of its brand and screen size. The latest model Samsung LCD TVs, the T'Con board is the integrated part of the LCD panel; and so it is not replaceable. Instead, the LCD panel should be replaced.
This is a trade secret; you know? Samsung is now following this trick, first introduced in this industry by Sony.

White dots appear on my screen

that sounds like a common effect that plasma sets develpe ehen the voltage on the screen driver is set out of spec, or the plasma screen assy is going bad, 90% of the times that I have adjusted the voltage the sparkling effect came back, indicating that the plasma display is going bad. or the power supply is going bad, most of the time dried out or bad capacitors in the main power supply in the set. I wish I would have written down those capacitors values and their numbers., as I remembered I found the bad caps because the tops were swollen a little bit. not yet bad yetr but on thier way their. and if left unchecked they will blow up and causing a lot more damage to the power supply

Hello, I have a Samsung S42AX-YB01

it unusual to have the screen go faulty itself. With plasma screens what goes is a power transistor, and there are 3 or 4 of these on one of the circuit boards. The likely board is the one with the big heat sinks as the power has to be stepped down to a lower voltage before it can be used properly. It is best if you replace all of the power transistors as one may have affected the other. If you are no good with a soldering iron then either get someone else to do it or replace the whole Circuit Board (PCB). Beware there are plenty of people aching to make a quick buck out of people who have no knowledge on this technology. If you want someone else to do this for you then find someone honest. A telltale sign for the power transistors is that they sound a pop when they go faulty. A symptom is a blank screen sometimes showing on standby mode. I would say your screen itself is ok, so sell it on to someone who needs to replace a physically damaged/smashed one if you no longer need it.

Samsung 46in.

This is a Plasma TV set, there is no convergence adjustments on this set. the convergence adjustments are for tube type projection TV sets. You could have a few problems with your TV. You could have a bad color whell assembly, a bad light engine assy. or a problem with the main board. This is not a set a that some who is not trained on plasma TV sets should attempt to troubleshoot and or repair. depending on how old this set is, it may still be under warranty. if it is not, call out only a Samsung authorized servicer, as they will have the boards and proper tools to service this TV. Good Luck
