Hi if it shows local only means you not connected to the internet and only you can access your network make sure you apply wireless password to make your network secure check the WAN cable which directly connect to your NetGear DG834G Router you can disconnect that directly connected to your laptop and see if you can access the internet should you need any other help please contact me on my weblog http://computernetworksupportindubai.com/
check whether the dhcp option is turned on in ur wireless router. if its turned off, change it to on state and try. u will be able to connect. still if u din get access. use some other lap to connect to ur wireless network. if it is possible to connect with someother lap, then the problem is with ur lap. the wifi drivers might get corrupted. re-install it to fix the problems. if all above doesn't gets work, then the problem is with ur wireless router.
Before resetting the router, please try the user name 'admin' with the password 'password' or '1234'. These are the default user name and passwords for Netgear routers. If neither of these work, there is a small black button on the back of the router with 'Reset' written by it. Press this down and hold it for approximately 40 seconds, or until you see the lights blink on the front. Now you can access the router via your web browser using the default settings. All settings will need to be reinserted into the router. I will post a How-To on how to do that today.
If this is a new router you will find everything you need in the router's manual. You will need that to set up the WEP key. If the router has been used wirelessly before, then you will need the WEP key to set up the connection through the windows wireless connection wizard. If you don't know the WEP key, you will have to connect to the router with a cat-5 cable and access the router that way with your internet browser to find the WEP key, or generate a new one. You'll need to type in the router's IP address in the address bar of the browser.

Hi there you can find the instructions for connecting your netgear DG8345G wireless router to your existing wireless router by configuring first your netgear router and click to help so that you can see the instructions by configuring it into your pc or you will go to the netgear support website so that you can find that model and look for instructions for your netgear router..
Could you give me some overview of the topology of the network your trying to install the router on? (How it's all connected, and the ip addresses of the machines and other routers on the network (if any)) ?
If its just a router and not a modem router, go into the routers settings and make sure DHCP is enabled to give each pc an automatic IP address and ensure wireless is enabled if using wireless adapters.
Next go to the properties of your network card and on the TCP/IP select properties and ensure obtain IP address automatically is ticked.
You must also set up using the XP network wizard and ensure file and printer sharing is set up through both pc's.
