Try NOT plugging your camera into your computer.
The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program, such as Picasa.

Are you using alkaline batteries? I had the same problem -- my camera cut out after just a few pictures and when I tested the batteries they were practically full. But alkaline batteries, even 'super-heavy-duty' ones, aren't powerful enough for this job. You need better, preferable rechargeable batteries.

SOURCE: CAMERA ISSUES--KODAK easyshare C613

Easier Way:

Turn on the camera without the cord plugged in, and push the Menu button in back, scroll down to the SET ALBUM (STILL) which is probably in the OFF mode. When you hit OK it will probably tell you to connect to the computer. Then you plug in your cord.

You may have to put your Easy Share disk in at that time and load or reload the software but it should then allow you to download all your photos into into a Kodak folder. Then you can burn them to a DVD or select as many as you want and move to a regular folder on your computer.

SOURCE: Kodak EasyShare C613 turns off when connected to PC

The camera is supposed to go blank when connected to computer.

I hit the "share" button and can then download photos, even though screen is still blank.

Yes there is.
In any Still mode, press the arrow down button repeatedly.

You can go to www.kodak.com/go/manuals
Download the extended user's guide of the manual.

1. Remove the batteries from the camera then clean the battery contacts
2. Remove the memory card
3. Insert the battery back on the camera in correct position
4. Place the camera in Auto Mode (auto mode is the green camera icon on the dialing mode)
5. Try to turn it ON (if still doesn't turn ON)
6. Charge the camera plug the USB AC adapter into a working power outlet.
7. Connect the USB cable to your camera and to the USB AC adapter.
8. Camera will charge until light turns off or (up to 3hours) then test the camera if it will turn ON

My kodak easyshare c913 turns of when hooked up to usb

Try opening the Kodak software first, then turn the camera on. I've found that you need the Kodak program to transfer the pictures from the camera. I personally do not like this, my old camera (also Kodak) would act like a plane old flash card/removeable device, this new one doesn't.
Anyhow, I find it super easy to just take the SD card out and pop it into the media slot in my printer. Then just open explorer and it's there just like any other hard drive or CD/DVD drive and transfer them to where ever you like.
If your printer or computer doesn't have a slot for SD cards you can get one that plugs into a USB port, pretty cheaply at any store that sells computer products.
