Question about ViewSonic VX922 19" Monitor Flat Panel

Viewsonic VX922 - black screen of death and the blinking (mocking!) green led

I have had the VX922 for a little under two years now - great display, when it works!  I am now on my 5th replacement from Viewsonic.  Each replacement evenually has the same problem - a black screen with a green blinking led.  I have tried everything - 60hz refresh, new pc, new cable, blah blah blah. Each replacement screen is a refurbished second hand screen that has apparently been "fixed" at Viewsonic.  This last one has lasted three days before the black screen of death.
It seems to me that there are a lot of people out there who have had the same problem and that the screen is not fit for purpose - something that Viewsonic will not admit to it.
Firstly - Am I right that there seems to be a disproportionate number of customers of Viewsonic with the same problem with this display?
Secondly - any ideas whether I could get my £300 back?
Thirdly  - does anyone know of any issues with the new Acer G24 - which after all seems to be the prefect replacement?!
Lastly - My experience with the VX922 means that I would NEVER, EVER buy another Viewsonic display and would consel anyone against buying one.

    Exact same problem, only I'm out of my warranty window so I'm stuck... Upon boot if my monitor is on once I get to the windows logo screen it goes black and to the blinking green LED. The only way to get it back is to unplug it for 30+ seconds or to have your screensaver enabled and to start after 1 minute. If you have your monitor turned off when your screensaver starts you can then turn your monitor back on.

    I have read one other possible fix over at tomshardware forums. Someone stated to disable vsync in your bios and graphic cards control panel.

    I just posted my story regarding my VX922 but I did want to agree with you that there is a huge amount of customers with the same problems and as I previously wrote, do not buy ViewSonic again and tell everyone you know the same as they too will have the same issues. Their customer service is sub par and you will end up with no monitor and out alot of money!

    VIEWSONIC Q19WB -9" widescreen. purchased Dec 2006.for $199 canadian. Broken in March 2009. 27 months. It went black for a few seconds then it would come back on. This happened to me a few times and also to my husband over the last week. Yesterday I wasn't working steadily on the computer but had it on and when I came back the screen was black. I checked cables, turned computer on and off a few times. Then i went and bought an acer 22" with 3 year warranty and 1 year extended on my credit card. 4 year warranty instead of 1. any thoughts on the old monitor? can it be fixed at a reasonable price?

    I have the same exact problem and honestly this problem will prevent me from ever buying a Viewsonic again, I loved my monitor up until a little under two years Black screen blinking green LED. Sometimes the screen works some times it does not. This has lead me to blow an unwanted $ on a new monitor that I would have never needed to buy if Viewsonic fixed this problem.

Really if this happens then you may want to contact viewsonic to see if it still in warrant. Reminder that most of their monitors have a 3 year warrany from the date of purchase. So make sure that you have your proof of sales/receipt/POP/invoice or what ever you want to call it ready. This model is old so they will ask for it if its a first time repair.
