1) Check and test your firewall. Your firewall, especially if its a software firewall like ZoneAlarm, Black Ice, Norton Firewall or something else could be blocking the connection. Disable your firewall and test the connection.

2) Check your IP address

3) Reset your TCP/IP stack by downloading and running WinsockXPFix.exe a Visual Basic program designed to fix corrupted TCP/IP issues, host file problems and a variety of other connectivity issues.

How do I hookup a dell inspiron I 6603049

To attach a computer to the internet, you will need to have an internet connection in your home.
Your Dell inspiron desktop does not have a wireless connection card in it, unless you ordered that with your purchase. Unlike laptops, which mostly do have a Wifi card in it, to be more mobile.

After subscribing you will probably get a router to connect to your ISP (Internet Service Provider) something like this, sometimes the antenna's are inside (the antenna is for wireless connections):http://www.dlink.com/-/media/images/Products/DIR/803/DIR803A1ImageHBack.png
In the yellow port comes the internet connection from the modem, in the ports 1,2,3 and 4 you can connect internet capable devices, so also a desktop computer.

Then to get your computer connecting to the router you need to attach a so-called patch cable http://www.computercablestore.com/Certified_Cat_6_Patch_Boo_Blue_catID2175.aspx
to the router and to your computer in the network port: Sometimes the ISP gives one added to the package when you get your router.

Normally after booting up the computer will find the network automatically, else call the helpdesk of your internet provider or ask a computer knowledgable person to help you.

This is a Fibre Glass Modem on the right and next to it a router (left), the router can connect to your computer.

I am connected to my wireless network from my advent 4211 notebook, but I am not receiving any packets back from my dlink dkt-710 router. If I configure the internet protocol to automatically obtain ip...

FIRST you check for any security options enabled - like password or in the wireless advance settings you pefer to connect only to this network = make that to any wireless access point. The computer is sending packets but return packets will only comes through filters like firewalls or security measures definetly your problem belong to the security settings with your pc which is not accepting any outside devices to connect - check your firewall setting and under network properties check internet protocol settings also check your antivirus blocking the connection try to ping the wireless adpater ip of your pc by itself are your getting the reply???

I have a D-Link wireless router, it is a DI 524 model. Well I just recently had to reinstall everything on my desktop computer, which my wireless router and dsl pipe are hooked up to. I have a laptop with...

IF YOUR WIRELESS NETWORK ACCESS POINT IS CONNECTED BUT YOU CANT GET ONLINE,YOU WILL NEED TO GO TO YOUR DLINK ONLINE ROUTER SETTINGS PAGE AND CHANGE YOUR PASSPHRASE KEY WHICH YOU NEED TO CONNECT THE ACCESS POINT TO THE WIRELESS ROUTER.BEFORE YOU DO THIS THOUGH,OPEN UP THE NETWORK CONNECTIONS WIZARD ON YOUR LAPTOP AND VIEW"AVAILABLE WIRELESS NETWORKS".IF YOU SEE YOUR NETWORK LISTED,HIGHLIGHT THE NETWORK AND PUSH THE CONNECT BUTTON.WINDOWS WILL ASK YOU FOR A PASSPHRASE OR PASSWORD.ENTER THAT AND CLICK CONNECT.YOU SHOULD THEN GET CONNECTED TO THE WEB.IF YOU DONT HAVE A PASSPHRASE OR PASSWORD,THAT IS WHY YOU CANNOT CONNECT THRU THE ROUTER AND YOU WILL THEN NEED TO CREATE A NEW PASSPHRASE AT THE D-LINK WEB SETTINGS PAGE.GOOD LUCK.

I need to hook up and start using a wireless router, can i get some help starting?

hi licking;
what type of wireless router are you using? a linksys? or a dlink?
do you have color coded cables?

try this:
from your modem(the box given to you by your isp), connect a cable from your modem LAN port to the WAN port of your wireless router.

If your going to connect a pc wired to your wireless router, you can connect a cable from your wireless router LAN port to your lan card of your PC.

give more details and ill be happy to help you. :)
