Sansa Media Converter won't work

I have the Sansa Sandisk e260 and when i open the media converter i can add new files but i can't convert them... and when i plug in the sansa the converter doesn't even recognize it. It doesnt even say "connect your player" or anything liek that. It just says "device:" and then has a picture of an exclamation point inside a triangle...

How do i get it to work?!
I've reinstalled SMC like 3 times. And I'm pretty sure I have the new one. I also have firmware. But its still not working.

Make sure your videos are in AVI format, that's the most common/format that works. Also, make sure you don't disconnect the device before it's finished writing. One last thing, make sure your Sansa is charged. If not, then it probably won't work.
