CanoScan lide25 - Getting error message when copying "cannot open file"

My scanner quit making copies, won't scan. I have deleted the files and reinstalled the programs from the disc that came with the scanner. I get the same message. Cannot open file. When trying the repair mode on installation, I got a message saying a file was locked. Didn't write down which one. HELP !!!!

(01) Is this scanner "new" to the computer it is installed on now (where you're experiencing these issues)?

(02) Did this problem show up w/out apparent cause or relation to any recent changes on your system (e.g. New hardware or software installed, updated, upgraded or removed; system crash; computer repair; etc.)?

(03) Did the problem appear soon after a change to your system? (see above examples)

There are many references to this issue on the Internet. I've listed a few here. You can find many more, if you like, by performing search engine queries.

THIS links to a Roxio forum thread regarding this issue. (Even if you aren't using Roxio software, the information here could be relevant to your issue.)

THIS link will explain a bit about what TVICHW32 driver is.

I'd reinstall the ASPI drivers. A driver file may have become corrupted. (Assuming you'd been using this scanner successfully on this system until recently.)

You can find links for Adaptec's ASPI drivers on their web site HERE. They also have an ASPI version checker you can run to find out what verison is installed on your computer.

SOURCE: Canoscan Setup Utility CD-ROM missing

i have a canon d646u and i have the same problem....my cd was lost..now what can i do? is there another way to pair scaner with pc?

I ended up buying VueScan and it solves the problem. The scanner works great now. I heartily recommend it so you never have to work with Canon drivers again.

SOURCE: How do i save the image once i have scanned it on CanoScan LiDe25

it may be that you have to close the program - i had a similar problem at first but found it stores them all until the program is closed, then a window pops up with little thumbnails of all my scans (meaning you can continue to scan new images without apparently having saved them to the harddrive). This new window allows the user to untic whichever scans are not desired... there is a svae button at the bottom, and the svaed scans will be found in the Pictures folder in a sub-a folder with that days date as the name.

SOURCE: canoscan 9950F won't scan, says scanner locked, but it isn't

I was surprised by the same problem this morning. First time I've had a problem with in years. Checked the lock... it was already unlocked. I solved the problem by unhooking the USB cable from the hub, restarting my Mac (seems to be the key), replugging the cable and restarting the scanner. Worked like a charm. Hope it works for you!

My canoscan LIDE 100 won't make multi copies of my drawings!


The scanner itself does not make copies. You scan and then reprint as many times as you need with a printer. Make sure your image settings are suitable for your printer eg save as a jpeg or pdf file and then reprint that. If you are trying to make your system do a function it is not capable of, you need to change the way you are doing it.

Lide 60 not working in mountain lion


Guide to installing Canon CanoScan LiDE 35, 50 and 60 on Mac OS X 10.8. Mountain Lion:


FIRST PART: DELETING OLD LiDE DRIVERS AND SOFTWARE


  • If this is the first attempt to install the scanner, skip this part


  • Trash the following files/folders from these folders:


HD:/Library/Image Capture/Twain Data Sources

delete the CanoScan CanoScan XXXX.ds file

(Make note of any other files that may be in this folder. If other files are present, move them to the desktop for now. Then place them back after successfully using the scanner.)


HD:/Library/Preferences

delete the 'CanoScan XXXX' folder


HD:/Users/Shared

delete the folders containing the name CanoScan, or starting with CNQL.


HD:/Applications

delete the CanoScan Toolbox Application


HD:/Users/YOUR-MAC-USERNAME/Library/Preferences

delete any items named "CanoScan Toolbox"


  • Restart your computer, then empty the trash


SECOND PART: MAKING YOUR SCANNER WORK


  • Make sure your scanner is well connected


  • Download the right driver depending on your Model. Also download the Scanner Software. Copy the filenames and search them via Google. Make sure you download the Canon files from an official Canon domain.


CanoScan LiDE 50 and LiDE 35 work both with the 35 driver:

lide35osx7721en.dmg


CanoScan LiDE 60 driver:

lide60osx11131en.dmg


VueScan Software:

VueScan 9.2 (or later) x32 for Mac OS X


Alternative to VueScan: CanoScan Toolbox. I prefer VueScan.

Try your luck with Version 4 or Version 5.

CanoScan Toolbox 4: cstbosx4934ej4.dmg

CanoScan Toolbox 5: cstbosx5014ej4.dmg


  • Open the downloaded driver file (lide35osx7721en.dmg or lide60osx11131en.dmg)


  • and Double-click the ScanGear file, install and restart when prompted


  • Open the downloaded VueScan file (vuex3292.dmg) and drag the VueScan application to the Mac Applications folder


  • Open the VueScan application. The scanner should be recognized automatically.


(Alternatively try and install CanoScan Toolbox 4 or 5)

If I try to scan or copy some files, it writes me: 'Error in scanner and follow instruction in manual. Scanner driver will be closed.(Code:201)'. Please help

hi Not only your pendirve your computer system is also affected by virus . please check your pendrive with any other computer .before you connected open your pendrive format your pendrive with any other computer. if it will not work you have go for any new pendirve. bye

Can not scan. keep receiving message "unable to open file".


try to reset the file link (toolbox CS -> settinf -> save -> image file) where the scanned file will be saved.

"Link Scanned images to..." refers to the programme you want to open the file. Navigate to the .exe of your preferred viewer

Failed to open a driver


OK. Here is what you do. (I just did this on an Intel Mac running OX10.5.6)
First go to the cannon site and get the program (File name: deldrvosx1510en.dmg) to uninstall the drivers for your scanner. Also, delete copies of the scan toolbox that you may have installed in your application folder.

Then go back to the canon site for the LiDE 25 and install the drivers (file name: lide25osx11030en.dmg.) This part is very important, in the middle of the install a dialog will popup asking if it is OK to run something like deldvr, DO NOT ALLOW IT TO RUN, HIT CANCEL.
reboot.
Install the canon toolbox software (it should be version 4.9.x not 5.0). File name is : cstbosx4934ej4.dmg
You should now be good to go.
What a %^#%$#-up process on Canons part.

Trying to make a copy- worked last week?


This is most likely only happening when attempting to scan through the CanoScan Toolbox. You can scan directly through ArcSoft PhotoStudio which came with the scanner. However, the error through Toolbox is likely caused by some limitation or restriction in the computer, possibly permissions of some sort. You may try deleting temp files from the Temp folder on the hard drive.

The Scanner's "Copy" program does not open


Try updateing the software. goto www.canon.com and download up dated drivers for you model.
