How to reseat then harddrive

I'm unsure of why you would need to reseat a laptop hard drive - but it's easy to do in most laptops. Usually there is a rectangular cover on the bottom of the laptop - usually only 2 screws securing it. Remove screws, Remove cover, unplug hard drive, plug hard drive back in, replace cover and screws.

Reseated hard drive, computer wont re-boot, asking for disc?

Check The BIOS to see if the hard disk is detected. If not then -
Check if the harddrive is faulty, remove the hard drive and insert it into an USB hard drive adapter and connect it to a workingcomputer's USB port. If this computer cannot see itas an USB mass storage device and you cannot open the various folders and fileson this drive, then this confirms the hard drive is faulty. Then the hard drive needsto be replaced in the computer/laptop, Windows installed and the computer orlaptop's device drivers plus your programs etc. to get a functioningcomputer/laptop again.

How to reconnect harddrive

To reseat the hard drive on a Dell and it depends upon the model.
Most Dell hard drives are in a slot located behind a panel on the side of the laptop near the audio connectors. The hard drive panel/hard drive tray may be held in place with one or two screws. Remove the screw/s then open the laptop lid and pull/slide out the hard drive panel out. The hard drive panel has the drive tray and hard drive is attached to this panel.
Reverse this order to insert/reseat the hard drive back into your laptop.

Compaq presario v6000 computer does not detect hard drive storage

The hard disk may be faulty or it just needs reseating to make proper connection.
Reseat the hard drive and boot up your laptop. If it does not boot up then go into the BIOS configuration to see if the BIOS detects the hard drive.
If the BIOS deos not detect the hard drive then most likely it is faulty. In this case to get your laptop working again, replace the hard drive and install Windows on the new hard drive plus the Presario's device drivers and your programs.

turn the power off and reseat the hard drive and turn it back on to see if the system will see it. Also make sure you can hear the hard drive spin. If it doesn't after you reseated the hard drive you might have to buy a new hard drive.

What does it mean when my laptop displays a message saying the internal hard disk can't be found and to reseat the hard drive

Reseat means take it out and plug in back in. On my 1525 the hard drive is at the top left when you flip over the laptop. You will need a fairly small Phillips (cross) screwdriver to remove one screw. Then take out the drive and check for any dirt - ideally using a small nozzle on a vacuum cleaner to give it a good clean. Make sure the power is off when you do this. Remove the battery first. Hint - the release mechanism for the battery is next to the barcode/serial number/service tag on the bottom of your laptop.

Take out the hard drive from the laptop and reseat it back into position. Sometimes reseating the hard drive will get it to be recognized by the BIOS. After you reseat the hard drive, go into the BIOS and see if its recognized in there. If it is then try to format the hard drive. If it still doesn't see it then your hard drive will need to be replaced.
