Hi, I have succeeded to install Xp on my HP DV6 6b56ex.(by Slipstreaming XP2 via Nlite) I used the following link http://www.theeldergeek.com/clean_installation_of_windows_xp.htm to find the way to install as I was getting BSOD as 0x7E due to ACPI. I am now unable to install most of the drivers infact none except the LAN driver. I have tried all Drivers one by one mention by Daniel and Cheryl G. some Drivers show the installation dialogue boxes and later no action is found i.e not installed not working. does any one have succeeded to install the Wireless, sound, and Display drivers at this machine? the configuration is below HP DV6-6b56ex Processor Intel® Core™ i5-2430M 2.4 GHz 3 MB L3 cache Chipset Intel HM65 Express Memory 4 GB DDR3 (1 x 4 GB) Total slots: 2 user accessible Upgradeable to 8 GB DDR3 Storage 500 GB SATA (5400 rpm) Up to 12 GB partition for system recovery SuperMulti DVD±R/RW with Double Layer Support Mobile entertainment HP TrueVision HD Webcam with Integrated Digital Microphone (low-light) Communication Integrated 10/100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet LAN Intel 802.11 b/g/n; Bluetooth with WiDi Multi-Format Digital Media Card Reader for Secure Digital cards, Multimedia cards Ease of use Integrated fingerprint reader Display 39,6 cm (15,6") High-Definition LED BrightView Display Display Resolution: 1366 x 768 Video AMD Radeon HD 6490M (1 GB DDR5 dedicated, up to 2.97 GB total) Sound Beats Audio for superior sound thanks in advance for your support.
You can download the device drivers from Dell WEB site, the support download page. Make sure you select your model desktop or laptop, better still, type in the Service Tag number, it is printed on the label on thebottom of the laptop and on the back or sides of a desktop. (If the Service Taglabel is missing then go into the BIOS setting and on one of the BIOS pages, the Service Tag number will be displayed). This will open the page where thespecific drivers for your model computer are located. Also make sure you selectthe Windows of the drivers for your Windows operating system. Click on thislink to download the drivers: - http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/index.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen

the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

If it does not read any CD/DVD inserted into it, then run Microsoft Fix which is provided in the web link below. This will delete the drive registry limits.
If issue persists then perform the remaining steps in the above web link.
For Troubleshooting playback problems with CDs, DVDs, and VCDs, refer the below web link.
