Re: records ok but after resetting, I don't have audio
My manual says that the MASTER passwordis 1369. You might try resetting the password using this in the current box. I have read of others having trouble with the audio. check and see if other settings got changed. pg 25 of manual says have disc in unit, access the setup menu and try the user default. Also supposed to be a help section in the setup menu. Hope this helps.
a 6ya Technician can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repair professionals here in the US. click here to Talk to a Technician (only for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need. Goodluck!

If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ Unlock procedure and to override the password lock of many popular brand TVs and other devices are given. Search the site by type in this key phrase "How to unlock television"; in the search box at the top left of the display window, to get gathered related posts.
Basically, the child lock feature is a security feature to keep the children away from unauthorized video content.
Your best bet is to get an original replacement remote.
You may try this general step to unlock without the Remote. However, it may not work for all the models.
Please hold down the Power button on the Player until "CHILD LOCK" or the "Key symbol" disappears from the front panel display. The Player will be unlocked.
If you had set a code number - the override code should be able to resolve the issue. Please follow the below steps to enter the override code.
1. Press SYSTEM MENU to display the Setup menu.
2. Use the Number buttons to enter the 6-digit number
"210499". The previous password will be cleared.
Since this came to me as a desktop question I will give you that set of instructions. you will need to power off the machine and unplug it. Remove the side panel of the computer (or top panel depending on the model). When you look at the motherboard you will see a CR2032 battery that powers the BIOS chip to allow it to retain it's settings such as password, date, and time. There may also be a jumper on the board (a little plastic square with copper in it) to reset the BIOS. You will be looking in the same general area of the battery for this jumper and it should be labeled CMOS or Reset. If the jumper is present you will need to use it to reset the BIOS. If using the jumper doesn't reset the password then you will need to remove the Battery I previously mentioned and let the computer sit without power or battery for several minutes. If this still does not remove your password (or if you would like to try this first) you can try to use a manufacturer override password. On a Compaq system the override should be Compaq. That does have a capitals C and the password is case sensitive. Best of luck!
Try to reset the camera to default settings.... go to the menu and look for the reset default on the menu...that should override any accidental settings or mutings and get you back if the microphone is still functioning.. K
