Question about Sony Televison & Video
Other 4 speakers seem to work as a true 5.1 surround sound system does, but not getting any dialogue out of center speaker...only very little muffled sound from either woofer or side speakers . . . all other sound seems perfect. Have both optical cable and HDMI connected.
I had a similar problem with my Philips home theater.
What I did was to go through the set-up again with the manual in hand and I got the speakers working but I sill have problems with radio the sations.

SOURCE: optical output
optical output from the tv can only go to an optical input on another device.
hdmi is for picture only.
what tv and home cinema make and models do you have?

Try running the optical TOSLINK cable from the TV to the receiver. If the TV doen't have a digital optical output, then try going into the menu on your cable box and setting the audio output to the digital optical out. Also check your TV menu and make sure NETCOMMAND is diabled. Some of your newer HDTV have Netcommand that allows the TV to control other devices through the HDMI cable.

Got your post, I will work with the model #s. Get back with you soon. Also a tip for now: HDMI carries true digital video and audio so you may not need the optic cables.

First of all, as a test, make sure the Samsung A/V receiver can output stereo audio from the tuner input (L+R), if it does, then it's just question of setting the receiver to the correct "mode", you should consult your owner's manual for that. If there is no audio on L+R speakers, then there's a problem with either the amp or the actual speakers. Other thing to check is the individual volume level on front and surround speakers if the receiver has such features.
