Packard bel slimview 517, twisted vga cable

Hi
the cable beside the connector that goes in to the pc has through time became twisted and i think some of the wires inside the cable may be snapped, i would like to know if there is any way to fix this problem, or do i have to buy a new cable

i had thought of that but it is to close to the connector to find them, i don't think i could do a continuity test either, just in case there is more than 1 wire snapped, i think i'll look for a pdf on the wiring diagram

    thank you for your suggestions

Yes if you can solder then cut the cable and solder the 15 pin vga connecter first test the continuty between the connecter and opposite end write it on paper then according to that solder all wires but better to buy new cable for long time

The monitor is not working right it has been just sitting 4 about 2 yrs and the color is all wrong

Hello Lorilkelley, Hi, check first your VGA cable, see if the cable is snug and tight, as you adjust or loosen the cable at the back of your PC look at the monitor and see if the colors go back to normal. if it does, its probably a loose or defective vga cable. BTW, is your VGA cable fixed on the monitor back or there is a connector, if there is a connector like the one on the back of the PC, try to loosen or tighten the connector, see if the colors go back. if the cable is fixed, try to wiggle the end and see if the colors change, if it does you have to live with it.

Connectivity card from montior to CPU is different than other PCs, in back side of the monitor its showing to type VGA and other one DVi connector, In my CPU i dont have the slot for the DVi connector,...

DVI ==> Digital Video Input
If your monitor has both DVI and VGA inputs,
and your PC's video-card has both DVI and VGA outputs,
then buy a DVI-to-DVI cable, and use it, for a better picture.
If your monitor has both DVI and VGA inputs,
and your PC's video-card only has VGA output,
then use a VGA-to-VGA cable.
Or, purchase a video-card with DVI output,
to replace the video-card with VGA output,
and then use a DVI-to-DVI cable.

Hi,

I believe you are referring to a DVi connector. We have different types of connectors but none of them is DFi. We have VGA, HDMI, SATA, and DVi connectors. Here's a cheklist of what you need to do:
  1. Check the connector of the computer whether you have VGA, HDMI, SATA, or DVi
  2. Check the connector of the monitor whether you have VGA, HDMI, SATA, or DVi
  3. Now that you know the type of connectors you have for your system, you know what cable to buy.
It does not really matter if your computer and monitor have different connectors. We can purchase cables with VGA - VGA, HDMI - HDMI, DVi - DVi, VGA - HDMI, VGA - DVi, HDMI - DVi. So, don't worry and thank you for choosing FixYa!

Power on power led blinking

Hello.

The LED blinking light usually means that the attached PC is not powered on or the VGA connector (end of cable connected from the monitor to the PC) on the monitor, the cable or the VGA port on the PC is faulty.

Try your monitor on another computer. If it works, there is a problem with your PC. If it doesn't work, the VGA connector, the monitor's VGA cable or the monitor itself, is faulty.

Hope this helps.

Princeton VL1715 startup problem

Have you disabled your onboard video in the BIOS? Boot your machine with the vga cord to the motherboard. You need to get into the BIOS. Depending on the make of your machine you need you will need to hit the del key, f2, or even f1. Go to the periphrial setup and disable your onboard video. Save the BIOS turnoff the computer and plug the monitor into you vga card. That should do it. To change it back to your motherboards vga just reverse the instructions. Let me know what happens. Good Luck, Tim
