Why bother, go on the net and search for windows updates. dont use windows but another 3rd party site, they have all the updates to do this. i run my system on the earliest xp windows. i have to load sp1, sp2 and sp3, do you think i am going to wait 3 hours to download all the updates. 5 hours it took with the damn thing keep on switching on and off. now i load 1, 2 and 3, an hour and its all done. then just update for the extras which is malicious software update and a few security updates. ,

It appears the hard disk has been wiped/formatted and does not have an operating system installed.
You need to get a Windows Vista installation CD and if the Windows label
on the bottom of the laptop is still attached then this label has the
product installation code.
Boot up with the Windows Vista installation CD to install the Vista
operating software then you need to install the Presario device drivers.
You can download the device drivers from the Compaq/HP WEB
support/download page. Make sure you select your model laptop and the Windows
drivers you require and install them. Click on this link to download the
drivers: - www.compaq.com/country/cpq_support.html
You need to check your system ram or memory. If you have 2 system ram or memory unplug the other memory and install the windows xp sp2 again. If still having a blue screen try the other memory then run the setup again. Also if you have an extra hard disk drive you can test it that or plug your hard disk drive to the other laptop and run the windows xp sp2 using your hard drive. If you can install the windows xp sp2 on the other laptop that means your hard disk drive are good. If your memory and to the other laptop are compatible plug it and run the windows xp sp2 installer to see and to diagnose what are really causing problem. Have a nice day.
when you see the compaq screen press the f10 key then go to boot sequncing a make sure it says cd rom than hard drive try to find this option. Then save the settings and put the xp cd in then reboot again and it sood enter windows xp setup.
First tell that which O/S it had earlier coz armada e500 notebook comes with 64 MB RAM and 12 GB HARD DISK , had you upgraded your notebook with RAM AND HARD DISK .
If not then check the hard disk space you have left in the notebook.
I know this problem,
The HDD is a SATA disk, win XP setup cannot identify a SATA controller on it's own
you need to load the driver (from a disk) so you may need to download it first.
I think this is the correct link
extract the files and burn to a CD or Floppy then run win XP setup by booting from CD
you should see in the begining of win XP setup from CD it prompt you to press (I think) F2 to add RAID or SCSI Controllers, (this prompt is at the bottom of the screen)
Then follow the propmts to load from the disk you made earlier. you should be able to select the controller from a list. (short list)
you should then be able to continue and hopefully Win XP setup should now be able to see your HDD and give you choices about which partition (as per normal)
you want to remove all partitions before installing winXP (you can then make whatever partitions you wish)
Hope this helps
