This is recommended for a better quality of strain, thus, a better quality of applesauce.

I have the fruit and vegetable strainer attachments to my Kitchen Aid Mixer. I was processing concord grapes, and the grape seeds and skins have gotten stuck between the white plastic auger and the metal...

Put the square auger end in a vise and lock it down, get a heavy terry cloth rag and wrap it around the cone and turn back and fourth by hand, (the cone is not strong enough to take any pressure from tools) until it starts to move, then keep turning back and forth while applying a lifting motion to the cone. That,s how I get mine apart when I get orange seeds stuck in it.

Blade stuck-can't remove for cleaning

Yes they can be tricky! The blade or dough blade/beater will always have this problem. I dont know of a "manufactured" way to remove this. However a flat screw driver that is carefully inserted into the opening at the base will remove it. With the codder pin positioned so the shaft and pin are going through the same direction of the opening of the attachment. Simply pul down on the attachment.I WOULD RECCOMEND TOWELS TO PUT ON THE MIXER BASE, since there is quite often alot of force need to remove them. This is is probably a good thing since you wouldnt want the attachment to come oof during operation. Hope this helps.

For grinding hard vegetables, use thinner pieces not more than 1/2" in any dimension.

You have to take off the top on the gearbox, then you have all gears in front off you.

It´s correct that you should use vegetable based grease, the spare part number Kenwood use for this is: KW630879

Item: kenwood chef km201 Problem: Leaking grease from mixer shaft

How old is the machine?

The leaking comes from the lower gearbox assembly, ther are two kind of gearbox. There are two kind of vertical drive shaft, 14mm and 12,7mm that goes through the gearbox.

You can try to replace the grease, make sure that is vegetable grease.
