Hi I had exactly the same problem with mine it worked the DVD player fine but not the TV even though previously it had worked both .......... Manual Guide In the manual guide I managed to dig out it says to do the following to set up the remote to work the TV
Press the TV button on the remote
Then whilst holding down the power button you need to enter in the samsung TV codes until your TV turns off (I only got to the first and it did it)
The numbers are 00, 15, 16, 17, 40, 43, 46, 47, 48, 49, 59, 60, 98
Hope this helps

That's weird, I own a samsung remote and a samsung TV, and sometimes a different mode on the remote gets selected, and you have to press the "TV" button near the top, and that will instruct it to control the TV and not your third party device.
Or maybe you might need to buy another remote, I find the following source useful for buying new ones that aren't universal http://www.remotecontrolscenter.com/

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

Try resetting it.
Remove the batteries and hold down the POWER button on it for 30 secs. Then replace the batteries with fresh ones.

SOURCE: We have an AK59-00104R remote
To program this Samsung remote to work with a TV, press the TV POWER button on the remote while entering a manufacturer specific code into the remote at the same time.
1. Switch the TV on. 2. Point the remote towards the TV. 3. Press and hold the TV Power button and enter the two-digit code for that brand of TV. If the code is compatible, the TV will switch off. 4. There may be more than one code for that manufacturer, so try them all until one works.
For Samsung TVs, one of the following codes should work: +01 +02 +03 +04 +05 +06 +07 +08 +09
