Yes, if what you are inquiring about is the original Operating System, and all softwares that you received on purchase that may have come pre-installed on the computer etc.

Some of the newer computers that you buy may not come with any CD's at all, and they have special products installed that allows you to fix problems with your computer from them, rather than having to use the CD's like earlier computers. However if these products are not helpful the Manufacturer will send you the original softwares on CD or DVD to assist in repair your computer.

**Some of the manufacturers may charge around $30 to get the disks.

The speech engine on my computer stopped working.

try down loading the software os from the net and hopefully you will still have the registration of the original product in your possession
If not contact the os manufacturer ( where you are downloading from) from the contact us section on their web site and talk to the people as they will have the registration on record
you have to use the genuine os site and not a site like soft tronics or others as they will not have the registration details
Also be aware that some os systems originators need renewable money to keep the os operational and your os may be out of date and that is why it stopped working

On my Toshiba Satellite Laptop I have opened and started the computer but can't get past the sign in window because my enter key and space bar won't respond. I can type letters but can not enter...

> hardware problem or software or keyboard?

Experiment #1: turn the computer off. Connect a USB keyboard. Turn the computer on. Use that keyboard to try the 'TAB' key (to move from field-to-field). If TAB works, then try using the SPACE or ENTER keys.

Experiment #2: turn the computer off. Turn the computer on, and look for the message:

PRESS <blah> to ENTER BIOS SETUP

When you see the message, press the <blah> key. On the BIOS SETUP menus, try the ENTER key to "select" a field, to prove that the ENTER key works fine.

Experiment #3: Turn the computer off. Disconnect the AC power. Remove the battery.
Remove the disk-drive. Take the original CD/DVD disk, and start to install Windows to the disk-drive. As you work through the installation screens, you'll need to press ENTER at least once,
if only to acknowledge that installation cannot proceed, because the disk-drive is not connected.
If the ENTER key works, it works.

Experiment #4: Like #3, but connect a different, empty, disk-drive, and reinstall Windows.
If it completes, then your "original" setup has a SOFTWARE problem.

Computer locked up, got new one

Hi Crosenwald,

Those custom software is developed by third parties for DELL printers, so you have to search for that product in the site of the developers.
Sometimes you may get a free version or you have to pay, depending upon the vendor.

I have an old computer which I would like to reset to the factory installations - how do I do this

There is no shortcut. You need to setup new operating system and while setting up, you may format other drives.

Just keep in mind that, you will need the restore/setup cd for the laptop including the driver software.

Can't get the set-up screen to come up with F10 or anything else!

There are many solutions for your problem. The one I know is to download the soft pack from the section "Software - System Management " that let you create a bootable floppy setup.
It is common for Armadas get the hidden partition with diagnostics and setup erased in formatting tasks.
Well then, download the "Computer Setup for portables" in that section. Before that you need to know the code of your laptop, that comes underneath it.
For example:
Compaq Armada 1700 Notebook PC 6233/S/3200/D/M/1
then
Microsoft Windows 98
then
Computer Setup for Portables
download sp and extract files, and use Make Disk.

If you use XP, try download version Win98 / Win2k.

Good luck.

I AM TRYING TO INSTALL AN HP DESKJET 3915 PRINTER TO A DELL INSPIRON 530 COMPUTER WITH VISTA SOFTWARE AND IT WON'T LET ME INSTALL. HOW DO I MAKE IT COMPATIBLE TO INSTALL.

Uninstall any software you had previously installed. Reboot your computer.

Determine whether you are running a 32 bit or 64 bit computer. To verify which one, see this website from Microsoft: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/827218

Once that is determined go to this page: HP 3915 OS Select

Choose the correct operating system Vista or Vista (64 bit)

Download the correct driver to your computer. There is an instruction link there if you need help.

Install the new software and driver. The original setup guide said to connect the usb cable before installing the software. I will assume that to be true here also.

I lost original CD for DS-2; how to get software?

olympusamerica.com/files/dssplayer.zip is the download link for DSS player but you will have to call Olympus for a replacement key. I have found it works best to SAVE and then install the download. They did not give me a hard time about getting a new key.
