SOURCE: i have paslode finishing nail gun , i cleaned it, not working now

The smoking is normal for a few times after cleaning ,but you might have put to much oil drops in chamber and piston chamber is getting a "vapor lock". Try recleaning with degreaser. Also have you forgotten to set the depth gauge at front of nose.

SOURCE: Firing pin not retracting far enough to allow nails forward

Yes,this is a common "mis fire" by Pasilode. I own the 16p Framer and the Angle nailer and I never get it from the Framer but I do get it seldom from Trim Gun,nothing you can do ,its just a misfire.

SOURCE: Paslode nail guns won't shoot

piston is probably jammed

This happens sometimes try holding it up against a board with the trigger depressed and then inset the battery.

The goal is to try to force the firing sequence to get the piston back to the right position with corded units this is simply done by attaching the air hose with the trigger pulled this causes air to rush into the gun chamber pushing the piston back and firing a nail out.

The cause of this is a misfire or jammed nail that stopped the piston in the wrong location so air will not build in the chamber correctly.

Hope that helps

Nail gun wont shoot

When you say it turns on - I'm assuming you mean the fan runs when you depress the nose? If the fan does not run - the problem is most likely the head switch which is part of the circuit assy in this tool.http://paslode.com/uploadedFiles/CF325_Parts_Diagram_Schematics.pdf
Part # 22
If the fan runs but it doesn't shoot - first - Check your fuel! I have seen many times where someone forgot to activate the fuel before installing it. On the bottom of each cell is a date code stamp - if it is within date, press the nozzle of the cell against a solid surface (bench etc) and you should get a good burst of fuel - if not replace the fuel.
Lastly, If the tool is clean, the fan runs, and the fuel is good but it still won't fire it is one of 3 things: a bad spark plug / wire (uncommon), a bad trigger switch (which is also part of part #22 circuit assy), or a bad ESU (electronic spark unit).
If the basic things don't solve your problem, I would suggest bringing it to a qualified repair shop to diagnose because the parts are expensive to play duck duck goose with.

Paslode impulse framing gun is dead, no green light

are you sure battery was charged ? if so , then battery contacts or circuit board may be broken.. but its probably a spark unit( little black box in handle of tool) that has gone bad. fairly easy to replace , but little expensive (60-80 dollars)

I have a paslode framing nail gun, bought a new battery, charged it (checked the voltage w/meter) put it in the gun and no green light... what do I check??? Bob

I would start with the battery contacts to make sure not corroded or bent, if no light still then you would have to take the handle halves apart and see if you have a loose connection at the curcuit board. Let me know and I will guide you thru how to do this.

Paslode 1st fix gun .battery fully charged and placed into gun.the light flashes green and the gun will fire once after which the light flashes red and the gun will not fire.any ideas.i have tryed other...

I would look at the fuel cell on the bottom is a expiration date and they will not fire older fuel. Also do you remove the battery and it does the same thing? When you depress the safety on the work can you hear the fan motor? You say the tool is clean does it have enough lube to move all items freely. Just a couple thoughts, Also look at the spark plug wire for being broke or coming out of the spark unit. Let me know and we will go into this deeper.

Paslode framing nailer 1998 yr. model when engaged wont fire

you have spark and cleaned tool correct, but fan won't turn that freely, if so the fan motor is bad, it should come on when you pull the trigger or move the roller lever for the safety. The fan is about 80.00 Let me know if I missed something and how did you check the spark?

Paslode framing nailer loss of power.

Here's what I found at the Paslode Troubleshooting Site:
Tool will not cycle - fan runs, indicator light
is solid green.

Lockout bracket is stuck in lockout position.
Work-contacting element is bent, or build-up of
debris in track restricts operation.
Follower is not behind fasteners.
Fuel Cell empty.
Spark wire out of spark plug.
Spark plug is dirty.
No spark is generated.
Check lockout.

Remove and inspect lower probe. Clean and
lubricate track with Paslode Impulse® oil.
Repair or replace lower probe as required.
Position follower behind fasteners.
Replace fuel cell.
Remove cap and check spark lead, insert in
spark plug and replace cover.
Clean tool cylinder head and spark plug.

If this doesn't work, I suggest contacting Paslode directly 800-222-6990

Paslode works intermittently

I had a similar problem with my impulse framer. The solution was to adjust the battery contacts within the gun. The contacts were not making good connection with the battery. I also adjusted the safety foot out to max so that the trigger mech. could function more reliably. Other problems I have had with this gun were related to the proper seating of the fuel cylinder and condition of the battery. My battery would no longer hold a proper charge causing the red light error.
