SOURCE: steam wand
As the espresso is being made, you can steam the milk by opening the valve that goes to the wand. (sometimes there is a "switch")
To steam milk:
-Fill pitcher (or whichever container you want) with milk e**ugh for about 2/3 of your cup. A thermometer would be helpful.
-Place pitcher under the wand and lift it so that only 1/2 inch is under the surface of the milk.
-Open the steam valve. The milk will expand as it heats. Lower the pitcher to maintain the 1/2 inch depth. You should hear a "shushing" sound and have ** splattering.
-When milk is about 150 F (or preferred temp), close the steam valve and wipe the wand with a damp towel or else themilk will cake on the wand.

Make a solution of half water and half white vinegar. Fill up your iron and get it good and hot then let it sit a couple hours. flush out and repeat as necessary. Hope you find this helpful. Please give me a fixya rating If this works for you. It works very well as long as it is not completely filled with scale. Once you have it good and clean By a gallon of bottled water at the market and use that for your Iron and you will never have a scale problem again. I learned how to do this 20 years ago from a 80 year old woman from england. If it is really bad you can up the vinegar concentration but do not go higher than 2 cup to 1.

SOURCE: steam escapes from the join
Some steam may escape even when the pot is put together correctly. However, make sure that the metal strainer disk is correctly nested in the thick rubber washer on the underside of the top piece, and that the washer is seated tightly and evenly.

Steam is boiling water vapor, so its temperature would be 100 degrees C or 212 degrees F.
