Question about Canon iP100 Portable Printer
When I replaced the black ink cartridge, the red light on the cartridge flashes rapidly and continuously, and there is no image when I print.
Turn it off and on.
Re-check the installations.
Unplug the printer for 1min to reset and then plug it back.

SOURCE: BLACK PRINTOUTS ARE NOT CLEAR
The printer head is probably dirty or blocked.
You can run a head cleaning operation from the maintenance package which came with the printer.

SOURCE: black ink cartridge
Are you using original Cartridge or a compatible one? One possibility is you didn't remove the sticker on the top which covers the air hole., please run a cleaning cycle from your pc before printing and take a nozzle check print.

There could be many reason for black ink not printing. You could try couple of steps starting with cleaning the print head ... Follow the below steps to clean the print head ...
After confirming that the cable is connected (if applicable) and the printer is powered on, perform the following.
Note: Standard print head cleaning can also be performed by holding down the <Resume> on the printer until the power light flashes one time. Deep print head cleaning (a more power process that uses more ink) can only be performed from the computer.
For Windows Vista
For Windows XP Professional Edition
For Windows 2000/Me/98
Please vote if this helps .... Cheers :)

The problem you are describing is with the black ( BC-10 ) print head and not with the printer.
1. Check your black ink tank and be sure it is not dry.
2. Run the printer through one DEEP cleaning cycle and see if that improves the print.
If your black ink tank is full, and the deep cleaning cycle produces no improvement, you will need to replace the BC-10 print head.
