Question about Belkin (F5D8235-4) Wireless Router

F5d8235 intermittent disconnection

I have a problem where the internet access through this router is disconnecting intermittently. It will be working fine for a while and then no internet for several seconds. The network icon in the sys tray shows a red x. Then it reconnects with no problem for various times (a few minutes to several mins or more). I'm able to bypass the router straight to the modem and don't have the disconnects. So it is in the router. Not sure if there is some setting to change or if this is just a router going bad. Thanks for any help you can offer.

Seems like a router going bad for me since the problem doesn't happen when you directly connect to the modem. Try a router reset, however.

Good luck

Does it ask you for the wireless security password while connecting?
I think you can try creating a new wireless network on the router and see if that works.

HERE is the link directly from Belkin for the drivers to your wireless router. The only information you will need to put in to get the correct driver is the version number. There is a link on that same page to tell you how to find the version number. In box 1 select "N" In box 2 select F5D8235, then in box 3 select your version number.

Cant reach 192.168.2.1 please help!!!!

Hi,

Welcome to Fixya. Make sure that you are using a computer that is connected to the router using ethernet cable. If still fails you can reset the router by pressing the reset button at the back of the router for 5-10 seconds using a pen or paper clip and make sure that the router is on.

Thanks for using Fixya.

Router now works intermittently, will disconnect from internet and i have to unplug it and plug it back.reloaded software, try to update firmware but i get a .bin file and all i can do save it what else...

Try resetting the router. If it does not work then you will have to update the firmware of the router. To do that you have to download the firmware file of the router ( it will have an extension of .bin). Save the file in your pc and go to the router's page and update it. It will look for a .bin file. Browse to the location where you downloaded the firmware and update.

Cannot connect

If you're trying to connect wirelessly, you probably need to disconnect from the wireless network in the wireless network manager and reconnect. This will force you to re-type the wireless access key. If you have the correct wireless key, it should connect and give you an IP.

If you're connecting using a network cable, your network connection settings may need to be change so that your computer will get an IP address automatically.
