Question about Sony Handycam HDRFX7 Mini DV Digital Camcorder
My camera is not powering up or starting. The battery doesn't charge either. I can plug it in and there is no response. I have service manual and got the tape out of the unit. I also tested the micro fuses and hey are working fine. Any thoughts

Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).

SOURCE: HDR-HC1 power keeps cycling
I had this exact problem, and the cycling would stop after about 30 sec. and then function properly. I believe a circuit was confused, mainly because I used an older battery and let it run out till the batt was dead - accidently - and when I put in a fresh batt, it no longer cycled and works perfectly to this day.
Now if I can get my computer to recognize the camera via firewire, I'd be golden.

Problem seems in power supply section at VC-516 (main board). If you know how to open and repair it, just check Fuses at VC-516 board and these are located near connector coming from battery / dc-in jack area. One fuse is open in this case.
