The best way is weigh in a charge. of course the type of unit will come into play as split systems have enough refrigerant factory for up to 15 ft lineset or so, depending on units make etc. If a charge exists already and requires adjusting due to lineset length, or repairs etc, youcan simulate a 95 degree day ambient outdoors by restricting the air flow a bit to artificaially raise the head pressure as do low ambient controls, thus bringing the head to around 270lbs in a r 22 system or ambient plus 30 degrees , converted to prressure, so a 95 deg day plus 30=125 deg converted to pressure is 269 lbs, the indoor air temp being clse to 80 degreees helps, the indoor coil will be 40 degrees cooler than the indoor ambient if all is normal and design conditions are met by God or you. If the indoors 75, go to a 35 d
eg coil temp this is ball park, as the subcooling (15 deg)and superheat (10 at the evap coil, 20 at compressor) will need to be monitered along with amp draw and Delta T or temp differntials suply vs return. How 2 add r22 - 2_25_2012_2_55_05_am.png

How do you add freon to haier window unit air conditioner

Window units do not come with service ports. You can buy them at local parts houses, but unless you have the freon, not gonna do you any good. Window ac use either r22 our 410a, and that cannot be bout without being certified.

How to add r22 freon

This needs to be done by a certified HVAC Tech. But if you are trying to add Ref. you probably have a slight leak in your system and that needs to be adressed before you try to add Ref. Otherwise u are wasting your money. And R22 isnt cheap.

Not cooling enough so can i add r22 myself ot i need a repairman?

If you are EPA certified go for it.If not handling is dangerous.Need access port, need gauges for r22 ,an you need to read the pressures on label,an mostly r22..If you do have some cooling it probably needs to be topped off,but can be expensive an always call an see what the service call amount is for just showing up!Be aware call around.

Hoi... We have a Condura split aircon of 1.5 hp. 12.000 Kj/hr -R22 The in- and outset unit needs cleaning and has to be disconnected from each other. Here's my question: After connecting again and...

Hi Frans! I'm Roger. I have never had to disconnect the Evaporator from the Condenser to clean them but here is your answer. Use the access valves on the liquid side of the condenser. After evacuating, let the vacuum pull liquid R22 into the liquid line access valve to about 80 gauge pounds and close your refrigerant port on the manifold. Start the unit and add GAS to the suction port to bring your pressure up. If you have a scroll type compressor you can add liquid to the suction port but add gas just to be safe. Exactly how much you add depends on the efficiency of the compressor and how cold you want the discharge air to be. Normally we shoot for 34 to 40 degree evaporator with 18 to 25 degree temperature drop across the coil. R22 at 34 degrees is 60.2 PSI (Pounds per square inch) on your compound gauge. That's normally blue and on the left side of the manifold. The gauge that's hooked to the suction line. 40 degrees is 68.6 PSI. The amount it will take depends on the size of the condenser and length of your line set. Watch the amp draw on the compressor while charging. The name tag will have an RLA or FLA number that is the normal operating amperage of the unit. Add gas on till the suction line is cold at the compressor, then wait 5 or 10 minutes for the system to stabilize. Adjust you pressure again and you should be done. Let me know if you need anything else and if so, be as specific as possible. Roger

How do you add freon to a mitsubishi split system

If its R22 you have to have a license to buy it. But outside unit on the larger copper line will be an access will look like a 3/8 copper fitting with a cap on it there is also one on the small line. You will need a tank of r22 and a set of gauges. If the compressor is running you add freon til the large copper line starts to sweat. The small line (high side) should not slug or have the gage on it jump this means its overful or has air contamination in it. Always add thru the larger line.good luck

Loosing r22

DO NOT ADD CHEMICALS TO IT ANYMORE! Have a qualified technician carefully check for leaks with a halogen detector such as the H10 or equivelant.

Can you put a 410a air handler with a r22 condensor

No. R22 and R410 are not compatible. R410 units operate at much higher pressures than a comparable R22 unit. These refrigerants also use different types of oil which are not compatible. If you need to replace half you might as well replace the whole unit because I was told that as of January 1 of this year you can no longer buy an entire R22 unit unless it is one a dealer still has in stock. They are phasing out R22.

I accidently added 12 oz of r410 to a r22 system,

Do a triple evac. Reclaim, flush with r22, reclaim, flush with r22, reclaim, flush with r22, reclaim. install afilter drier. Evac down to at least 200 microns. Recharge. you should be ok.
My concern would be disposing of the old "now blended" refrigerant
