It could be a thermal fuse, or it could be your element. the only way to know for sure ( without just replacing parts ) is to test them with an ohm meter on tone.
to get to these parts, you need to open the door and remove the 4 screws ( 2 on either side ). then you can remove the front panel. you now have access to the element and the thermal fuse which is on the element canister.
if you get tone, then the part is good. Joe

Maytag neptune dryer doesnt heat

On the housing the element mounts in is a couple of safetys The smaller one is rated for 300f and the bigger one is rated for 250f. If the smaller one is tripped obviously you replace them both, making sure the vent to outside is clear. Them fuses blow or trip because of air restrictions.

My maytag neptune eletric dryer is not drying my cloths only cold air circulates. checked continuity of heat element, good, no limits or fuses open, 120volts to each side of the element. What am i missing?

Should have 240 volts at element.  If it has continuity, you will read the same voltage on either side.  Check across the element for 240.  If you only have 120 check for 240 across the two outside terminals where the cord hooks up.  More than likely either a half tripped breaker or defective breaker.

It won't do anything. The display says 8.8.

Blown duct fuse.
Probable cause:
lint, loose blower wheel, air restriction

Dryer just stopped working in mid cycle.

Verify there is still power at the wall and check the thermal fuse.

Maytag Neptune Dryer not heating

Q - My electric dryer runs but will not heat, what could stop my dryer from heating?
A - Things that could stop a electric dryer from heating:
- house fuse or breaker ( needs two of them ), heating element, burnt wire, thermostat(s), thermal fuse ( not all models ), motor heat switch, timer, selector switch, burnt power cord/plug.
A ohm meter test for these parts is here.

You really need a volt / ohm meter to check for Continuity & Volts

Its well worth the investment... $15.00 bucks give or take a few

I would check to see if you have 220v to back of dryer where the cord mounts to dryer,

If dryer is getting only 1 leg 110 volts instead of the 220 will it not heat.

Check themostates & heater for Continuity... Most models, Now have a.. Hi-limit fuses that need to be checked for Continuity
