ive found the best prices at tigerdirect.com and they ship it right to your door. make sure the tiger ppl have the exact match and dont replace your order with more expensive replacements as some of these substitutions require voltages that your motherboard CAN NOT produce and will not work.. you also want to make sure to buy low density ram, it performs better, is a few bucks more than high density, but worth EVERY penny. E-bay is notorious for selling cheap high density ram on thier site.
If you stick to the list above, you shouldnt have any issues.
This should fixya up! please rate...

Will a DDR3 graphic card work as it should work on a DDR2 motherboard or ram

Add more RAM
If you're not sure if a module is right for your system, use the
Crucial Memory Advisor tool for a list of guaranteed compatible modules.

First you will need to select the manufacturer from a drop down list then select your product line from a drop down list then select the model then click find it will take you directly to compatible ram also you will have an option to scan your system.

You should always ask for a guarantee on the compatibilitybefore making any purchase and try to buy for working pairs if possible.
computer users often get confused when assembling or upgrading their first computer. While the most common error is made when distinguishing system memory, RAM, from hard drive space, gaming computers have an extra wrinkle to worry about.

Graphics cards use memory separately from the system memory mounted on the motherboard. Some graphics cards use the more typical DDR standard, though it's permanently attached to the graphics card circuitboard, while others use the new GDDR standard.

For the most part, the internals of the graphics card aren't relevant to the rest of the computer it's all about the connection slot. What Is DDR Memory?

DDR, or "Double Data Rate," is the standardized random access memory format for most desktop and laptop computers.
DDR RAM comes in different generational standards: DDR, DDR2, DDR3 and the newer DDR4.

RAM chips, known as DIMMs, come in only one format, as do the DIMM slots on motherboards, so a DDR3-compatible motherboard memory slot can accept only DDR3 RAM DIMMs RAM that uses an earlier or later standard is incompatible.
GDDR Memory and Graphics Cards

Modern graphics cards use a modified memory standard called GDDR, short for Graphics Double Data Rate. While similar, GDDR and DDR memory is not the same:

Most importantly, GDDR memory is integrated into the graphics card and cannot be removed. Some older graphics cards use DDR, DDR2 and DDR3 memory, but this is also integrated into the card.

Graphics cards of varying power come with different kinds of RAM as of the date of publication, most cards feature GDDR4 or GDDR5 memory

Graphics Card Motherboard Connections
Discrete desktop graphics cards are mounted inside a computer case and plugged directly into the motherboard.

Three standard connections are used for graphics cards: PCI-Express (the most common and powerful), PCI and AGP.

It is this connection that determines how much data can be shared between the graphics card and the other system components, such as the CPU, the system RAM and the hard drive.

The expansion slot standard is the primary function for determining whether or not a graphics card is compatible with any given computer:

If your motherboard has a PCI-E slot, it's compatible, if not ideally so, with all PCI-E graphics cards.
Graphics Card Memory and System Memory Compatability

Memory is an important part of game performance, but graphics memory and system memory are two different things.

For better performance, it's best to have as much graphics memory AND system memory as possible, but the different standards used by the graphics card and the motherboard are largely irrelevant.

As long as the graphics card uses the correct expansion slot standard, it will work with the corresponding motherboard, regardless of its DDR version.

CPU will not recognize the last memory slot in my FX4710

RAM, or random access memory, is the physical memory on the computer but only holds data while the computer is on.
The benefit of adding more RAM is that it generally makes your computer faster.
Almost all new computers recognize your RAM after you install it and restart the computer, but if yours doesn't there are a few simple things to do to get the memory recognized.
Check the type of memory you have.
Computer motherboards will work only with the type of memory they are designed for regardless if the memory fits or not.
There will be either a sticker on the memory or a listing on the packaging giving the memory type and speed.
Check the computer's or motherboard's manual for the type of memory that is compatible.

Install the memory and make sure it is tight, otherwise it may not get recognized.
The memory fits into slots on the computer's motherboard.
There are tabs on the side of the memory slots to release it.
Release the memory if it is installed and put it back in by pushing it down straight into the slot until it clicks.

Restart the computer and hit the appropriate key to enter the BIOS.
The key will be listed on the screen.
Go through the menu choices by using the arrow keys.
Look for the memory listing under hardware.
Make sure all memory listings are not listed as disabled.
If so, change them to enabled.
Choose anything listed similar to "Auto detect."
Exit the BIOS and restart the computer.

Two Ram Memory slots.
Maximum Amount for EACH ram memory slot is 1GB.
Maximum TOTAL Amount for the motherboard is 2GB.

Ram Memory used is DDR Sdram at 333MegaHertz, or 400MHz.
That is PC-2700 and PC-3200 respectively.

Uses Non-ECC, low density, Unbuffered, CAS Latency of 2.5, and 2.5 Volt.

Hi, Is Asus ATI Radeon HD6450 Silence 1GB DDR3 VGA/DVI/HDMI Low Profile PCI-Express Video Card capable for my Compaq HP Presario SR2020NX? -thanks a lot.

You mean will the Asus ATI Radeon HD6450 with 1GB of graphics memory, work in a Compaq Presario SR2020NX Desktop PC?

Yes.

The Compaq Presario SR2020NX Desktop PC has a PCI-Express x16 expansion slot.

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00757470&tmp_task=prodinfoCategory&cc=us&dlc=en&lang=en&lc=en&product=3245048

{Motherboard illustration and photo are towards the bottom of the page}

Look at the specifications.
Scroll down to the heading - Expansion slots.

Three PCI. (PCI expansion slots)

One PCI Express x16 graphics.

NOTE*
Looking at the motherboard illustration, it is Wrong.
Shows - PCIEX1 (PCI E X1)
According to the specifications it is a PCIEX16 expansion slot. (PCI-E x16)

A PCI-Express x1 slot has 36 contact pins. 18 on each side.

In comparison a PCI slot {White} has 124 contact pins. 62 on each side.

Looking at the photo of the supposed PCI-E x1 slot they show, the black PCI-Ex1 slot is longer than the white PCI slots.

It is a PCI-Express x16 slot with 164 pins. 82 on each side.

The Asus ATI Radeon HD6450 uses a PCI-Express x16 expansion slot.

So you know the graphics card will fit. Low-profile to boot.

Power requirement:
The Compaq Presario SR2020NX desktop computer comes with a 300 Watt power supply.
(Although in actuality it's more like 70 percent of the maximum rated wattage. 210 Watts)

Enough power for the computer, and the graphics card.
ATI graphics cards do not use as much power as a comparable Nvidia graphics card.

Concerned that the Asus graphics card uses DDR3 graphics ram memory, and the Presario SR2020NX uses DDR2 Sdram ram memory?

Don't be. The graphics cards graphics memory runs independent of the computer's ram memory.

Upgraded memory in W3611. Won't start. Gives three long beeps instead. Restored old memory. Won't start. Gives three long beeps instead.

Remove RAM(S), clean the ram slot by blowing air, fix RAM(s) back in position untill both the side clamps are properly locked.
If problem persists try resetting motherboard via jumper pins on the motherboard.

Hi,
Inspect the memory slot carefully. If there are are bent pins in the slot , you can probably align them with a pointed tip. Otherwise the best option would to replace the motherboard. Because after the process RAM is the fastest component in the computer. Out of experience in repairing the motherboards ,i recommend to replace the motherboard.

Thanks Fixya

T2742 Desktop eMacine I want to upgrade the RAM from 256 MB to 1 GB. Can I replace the single 256 MB memory board with a single 1 GB memory board? Or, should I use two 512 MB memory boards?

Maximum Total Amount is 1GB.

EACH ram slot's Maximum Amount is 512MB.

Note* If you only install one ram memory module, make sure it goes into Slot 1.

(On the motherboard it may have DIMM 1, printed next to the slot)

Slot one is closest to the Processor. The processor reads ram memory that is in Slot 1, first.

Which RAM to use for Soltek SL-75DRV/-v

Leif: The difference in the numbers (2700 versus 3200) is speed rating-- basically, the higher the number the faster the RAM. Your computer is currently using 2700, so it's safe to use 3200, it's just faster than is currently used/specified.
Your computer is a Socket A - AMD Via-based board, so it is likely the motherboard will accept 1 GB memory modules. With three slots open, you would want to buy 2, 1-GB modules for best results. At current pricing, that would cost about $100. 2- 512MB modules would be next-best and around $55. Be sure to place the two modules in the slots next to each other, and closest to the processor for best results.
