Question about Microsoft K5100141 Keyboard

1 Answer

Keyboard problems Hi, I have a Dell laptop (Inspiron 1501). Ever since new it has had a problem when typing emails and such the curisor will jump around the email or into the subject box even when you type in either b or y. I might have other numbers that do it too. But, it will do it with these the most. Plus, to make it more frustrating, it doesn't do it every time. Usually when you are typing an email and trying to finish. You look up and realize it has jumped and you have been typing into a different place in your email. Frustrating to work with. Have been told this is a Windows XP problem by a computer friend. He also said that there is a Microsoft "Patch" to repair this. Can you tell me how to fix or how to find the patch to fix? I am pretty much not very computer oriented. So, any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Kim Buell (kbfluffy@aol.com

Is the Num Lock light lit? This light is the one all the way to the left of several on the computer to the left of the power button (it looks like a padlock with a 9 in the center). The integrated number pad is probably active. Press to toggle this feature off. The Num Lk key is to the right of the various function keys but to the left of the keys labeled Insert and Delete.

I hope this helps.

Hello !!

I have seen this problem many times and the most common reason is Spyware or Malware.

So, download, update and run from these sites: http://www.spybot.com and http://www.malwarebytes.com. With Malwarebytes, be certin to choose the free software.

Hope this helps.

When typing the curser will jump to wherever the mouse is

this is a common problem with 1500 series laptops, as it ages the tap sensor in the touchpad gets more sensitive and can read a tap, or read a release at random times. the best way to stop this is to disable the tap to click option on the dell touchpad tab of the mouse control pannel aplet.
