Question about 2wire 1800HG Router (RG1800HG00)
I'm having a problem launching the internet from my laptop in the wireless mode. The icon in the lower right corner says I'm connected and have full strength, yet when I launch internet explorer I get a dnserror. I tried launching from a local Starbucks and I get the same error. Once again, the icon said I was connected to their wi-fi and had full strength. The only way to use this laptop is to have an ethernet wire connected to the router. When the wire is connected the laptop works fine. I have a dell with XP windows installed.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thank you in advance.
Seems like there is DNS confiuration set in the wirless porperties page.
right click on the "My network Places" go to porperties. right click on the wirless connection.
go to TCP/IP under the "connection uses the following items." high lite the TCP/IP adn select the porperties box.
under hte genral tab
Obtians an IP address automatically
under alternate configuration
make sure nothing is checked. click OK and close.
try to connect again.

At the bottom right hand corner of your screen, you have a wireless conenction icon. right click and view available wireless network...if you see your network there. connect to that network, if secured, then call netgear to verfiy what is your network key. if it is unsecure then you can log on right away.
