It is very likely the power supply board. It may have some heat stressed solder joints, or even a few bad capacitors. It is going into the protect mode. It can also be other problems, all of which would require a service technician to isolate. Unless you have experience in repairing electronics you should really have a service center check it out. It is very easy to cause more damage than you started with if you are not experienced in fixing these.

the lamp may be faulty needs replacement, another culprit is the color wheel when worn out they tend to get stuck and cant spin hence the clicks as tries to spin needs replacement most color wheels come inbuilt in the light engine u will need a tech to replace it and u are good to go remeber the lamp cant turn on if the color wheel is stuck cos its the one that syncrinizes with dmd board which in turn activates the ballast board to fire or light the lamp

kp57ws50_57_in_rear_projection_hd_228277.jpg Problem with Sony KP-57WS520 57 in. Rear Projection

This model is really prone to one problem in particular--screen even briefly comes up bright red, green or blue and set shuts down.

15 seconds from turn on front power light should blink as set checks several things internally---if something wrong it does not let picture show.

Usually after shut down or failure power light will blink a sequence of blinks but not always depending on problem.

Did you see the screen at all go red, green, or blue before?

the more you tell me the better I can help

The green light flashes 15 times and restarts but no picture or sound will come on

Not repaired this model before but have had similar faults with others. Some tv's when the standby blinks like that it means the power supply is shutting down, Can be due to leaky capacitors in power supply, I had one tv (a plasma tv) doing that when one of the five cooling fans at the back along the top had packed up, not a job for the novice though,

Any chance you might think that it is your remote control faulty? As you need it to turn your plasma on from standby via remote (only). Let me know.

I suggest doing a google search using the tv model # and brand.
I have learned myself that different big screen tvs seem to each have their own common problems. I have read before of power supply issues that cause what your describing.

Hi,

Get the Wii "COMPONENT" cable set. This set has white-red (sound) connectors plus the red-green-blue (component - video) connectors. You can get this cable where they sell the Wii. It will give you the best possible picture with this device.

Plug the Red-Green-Blue connector in their respective sockets on the NEC display (upeer right-hand side). Switch the NEC display to the DTV/HD input (upper right button on the remote).

Please note that this setup does not provide sound since the display does not have speakers.
Use the white-red connectors and plug them into your amplifier or other sound device.

Good luck.

Minium is the green picture tube need to be replaced, if you can take the front cover and access panel off there is a control with 3 focus and screen controls.
you can adjust the 3 screen controls to possibly get a little more time out of it before the crt's need to be replaced. careful if you turn them down too much there will be no picture, and if you turn them too high the tv will go bright and shut off

Screen

What you may have needed to do was adjust the green & blue crt screens to match the red. Go into your picture menu adjust, turn color all the way down to a black & white px. Now adjust each crt screen so that you end up with a true black & white px. Then adjust each focus control to get a sharp px, have your tv on a channel like the home shopping network so you can adjust each crt focus one at a time for clarity by cover the other 2 up. Then go back into picure adjust & turn color ahlf way up, you should see a better px.
