Question about DVD & Blu-Ray Players

2 Answers

Have Cyberhome 1600 and it is difficult to get it to open and close for discs. Seems like it might be a short of some kind. Also during the playing of the disc it just stops playing. It then must be turned off and agian try to get it to open and close and reload the disc. Any suggestions? I know that this brand is not one of the best, so should I just dispose of it and get another brand, or can it be repaired.?

It can be repair but if repairing this will cost you a lot then you should by a branded one for they have a good reputation of their products and long life usage plus a warranty and service of their own.

thank you for using fixya

The dvd drive seems to be having problems, possibly a problem with the motor in the dvd drive, but possibly might need to replace the whole dvd drive inside the player. if you open it up and provide me with details of the dvd drive I might be able to find you a replacement, or it might be just cheaper to buy another dvd player..

Cyberhome DVR 1600 DVD

What format are you recording in?If the recorder is set for DVD +R, and your playback machine won't read the disc, you may need to record on a DVD-R, or a DVD +-R. Or vice-versa. Some DVDRW discs will record on one machine and won't play on another. The media are incompatible. Another problem - if you are copying a copy-protected disc, it might not play back either. Are you sure you are finalizing the disc? This process takes 4-5 minutes and requires two or three responses sometime.

No Disc or disc error

To the second problem, some units are now universal and will play DVD's from more then one region, ie: Pal, NTSC etc.

Best to check your manual for different regional settings.
The unit may still be in it's own county and you are using discs from USA.

Hope that helps.

As i live in Australia, the best advice i can offer anyone, if you plan on buying a universal player, buy it locally as it should already be set to your region.

Buying cheaply from overseas suppliers may result in non-compatable disc errors.

Disc playing on another computer help

It sounds like you need a firmware update but it may be too late now that Cyberhome is out of business. I suggest you buy a better unit but if you have some unfinalized or unreadable discs you want to try and recover I have instructions on how to do that on a PC that may be of help. www.drx9000repair.netfirms.com/
