When the CPU overheats then it will shut down (i.e. thermaloverload) and won't boot up again until it has cooled down. If this is theproblem is not fixed then the CPU will eventually fail.
A faulty fan causes the problem or the fan and heat sink assembly are cloggedwith dust.
Check the CPU fan to see if it spins freely, if not replace the fan.
If the fan and heat sink is clogged with dust the remove the dust and make surethe vents are clear and dust free. Use a can of compressed air to do this.

System shuts off after 5 min will start again if turned off and on but only plays for 5 again

It sounds to me that something is getting very hot and causing the system to shut itself down. Then when it cools off, it returns to normal. Investigation inside straight after it has shut down might reveal what is getting hot, by simply feeling for a very hot part. But be careful don't burn yourself!

The dryer stopped working for my hwd1000 --

Check your belt. It may be shot. And that will cause your machine to do that. The heat will still work but your clothes will not dry.

Subzero 501R fan won't shut down when door closes

HI, I'll be able to help you out but I want to go over some stuff that way you'll have a better understanding of your machine so if I have a question it will easier for you to answer. Lets start out with the fan. The fan your hearing inside the machine is called an evaporator fan. Its located at the top of the machine directly over the evaporator coils, which are behind the back wall, that freon goes through in its gas state to cool the machine. The evaporator coild get cold and the fans job is to pull air from the bottom of the machine, across the coils and intio the refrigerator itself and therefor cooling the whole thing. The fan does not extract air out at all. The suction sound you hear is caused from the machine design and the differential in temperature in and out of the machine. The fan will runs non-stop with only 2 exceptions. First being the door getting opened, which opens the switch, I think on that model is located naer the bottom next to the light switch. If the fan is running after you open the door your door switch is stuck or broken and needs to be fixed, but that wouldnt' tmake the temp raise. The second is when the thermostat registers that its cold enough it shuts the fan off. From the age and what your saying is going on I would first check the condersor coils, located behind the removable grate and see if they are really dirty. That would cause the temp to raise airfloe is blocked and the compressor gets too hot. While down there check the fan to see if its running as that too will cause the machine to get hot if not. Ihe coils are clean and the fan is running call a tech because you probably have a freon leak, which is the likely candidate.

Check that the machine is not running too hot as this will cause the system to shut down to prevent thermal damage.

My notebook is too hot when I play any movie and sometimes it auto turn off. My notebook is a DV3 2150us

I would try and blow out the dust from the machine, a build-up of dust can cause the laptop to overheat and that could cause the machine to shut down. Often times the fan gets caked with dust and cloth fibers from having it on your lap. If the laptop can't get enough cool air, it overheats and shuts off to protect itself from damage.
Thanks, and have a great day!If my solution helped you, please don't forget to leave positive feedback!

My fisher and paykel ecosmart gwl15 won't do a hot wash. although the hot wash is selected, the water remains cold. there are no error lights or beeps. Help!

There are several possible causes. To track down the problem, first shut off the water supply valve feeding the washing machine, then remove the hot water hose from the machine and direct it into a bucket. Turn on the water supply valve. Does water come out? Is it hot? If you only get cold water, then you need to insulate the pipe between the water heater and the supply valve so you get hot water faster (assuming the water heater is working!)

If you have a supply of hot water, then check the inlet screen where the hose connects to the washing machine. Perhaps it is clogged with lime or sediment. If it is clear, then you have a fault in the hot water solenoid valve or water temperature selector switch.

I have a toshiba satellite a215 s7422 and it keeps shutting down on me so i disassembled it and cleaned out the fan but it still keeps shutting down...i recently had the bios reset, i don't know if that...

You should look for the following answers.
(1) Are you operating your laptop in a in a hot and dusty environment (If yes you should know that computers do not like hot and dusty environments and they shut down to avoid a complete burn out of the machine more over the dust particles also can destroy the hardware and block internal fan ventilation ducts in between the CPU and the fan).
(2) When the your laptop PC shuts down place your hand underneath the laptop and try to feel hot spots. If you find areas unusually heated then this is the main cause of the shut down.
(3) If just after the shut down and a good usage the Laptop is cool then underneath than overheating shut down might not be the case.
If you determined that heating is the cause and you cannot change your environment than you should look for other heavy duty laptops that are robustly designed for hot environments.
I do not think that resting the BIOS can cause this.

I have a fisher and paykel IWM10 intuitive washer. when it starts, water takes a long time to start, then stops abruptly. i can't get it to do anything else

1) Does the machine require hot and cold water?- check your book, some machines will shut down if correct supply is not available.

A faulty fill valve may also cause this.
