Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

Nero 6 does not work on Windows Vista. You need a newer version of the software. Version 7, I believe, was the first version that could be installed on Vista, but if I remember correctly it had a few bugs. Version 8 is the current version and is completely compatible with Vista.

SOURCE: Nero - Burning Rom has a known compatibility issue

Hi,
If your trying to install Nero 6 on a Vista there is no point as it does not support Nero 6, your better off installing Nero 8 or 9 as Vista does support them.

Tip

Nero Serial code key for registration

You can obtain a free nero burning rom 9 download and a serial key emailed to your email from ahead software / nero by signing up to the free trial - this will let you use the software legally as a trial for around 15 days, during this time you can burn dvd, cd and other media for free.

http://www.nero.com/eng/downloads-nero9-trial.php

After the trial is over, you must purchase the program, if you can't afford the program and if you want to get it cheaper than what they are asking for it, buy a new CD/DVD burner that has nero software included those generally cost around 20 to 30 $ from www.newegg.com

if you can't afford that either, then there are free alternatives to nero. For example cdburnerxp is a great program that will get the job done, it will burn your cd and dvds for free. Download -http://cdburnerxp.se/

No burning rights

windows vista has a thing about admin rights and you can check every box and it says you have rights but you really don;t.
and there is now significant admin user in vista anymore.
here is what i had to do to get the rights to do anything.
Please understand that editing the registry is not for the weak computer person and you must be able to reverse any changes made that cause an issue. I used this on mine and it helped me gain some control.

click start and run,
type in regedit
when Registry editor opens
click on HKEY Local Machine
click SOFTWARE
click MICROSOFT
click WINDOWS
click CURRENT VERSION
click POLICIES
click SYSTEM
HIGHLIGHT SYSTEM
in the area where there are values right click and select new/ DWORD
enter "EnableLinkedConnections"
press enter
right click EnableLinkedConnections and chose MODIFY and change the value to 1
Save and exit Registry Editor.
Reboot your computer and try Burning again.

It sounds scarey but it's not and just remember or write down these instructions so you can refer to then easy during the process.
and also to reverse the entry if needed.
if you need any further help let me know.
Good Luck

Burning dvds with realplayer

DVD discs come in two capacity sizes.
Single layer DVD have a capacity of 4.7 Gb
Dual layer DVD have a capacity of 8.5 Gb
Some DVD burners are single layer burners only and cannot burn dual layer discs.
The error message you are getting would indicate that the disc you are using is not large enough to copy all your program material.

Cannot copy files to DVD disks

First of all you should have the recording tab ON. Have you tried burning using Nero instead of dragging and dropping? This may solve the problem.

However, if you prefer to drag and drop, try setting the write speed to a slower setting, even if the dvd burner has faster write capabilities.

1. I do not think it is a hardware issue.

2. You can try replacing the IDE cable, but if you can read the contents of the disk it does not suggest a communication issue between the drive and mobo.

3. I do not think that the burning software is to blame, when you drag and drop you are actually using a windows based burning software that is installed with the operating system.

4. set up your files to burn through nero, let the software do the work.

I had the same issue with my dvd burner, although slightly different error messages, solved it by using nero instead.
