Having issues with logging into the cisco softphone from home via vpn


Make sure that the subnet for the call manager is available over your VPN if you have locked the tunnel down. Also make sure that the IPC is allowed to bind to the VPN virtual network card.

Cisco IP Phone 7940 and 3com nbx as 3rd party SIP phones


Here are the instructions for configuring these units for 3cx

Since the 3cx softphone worked well, I don't see why you couldn't configure each as for 3cx and make them work as well.

I've had that happen when I've added some newer rev SIPs. The newer ones come with a notice to load the 2161DS with versions 2.0.13 or newer firmware; by unplugging the new SIPs and leaving just the older ones (and I'm at a loss as to the exact revisions) I got back the OSCAR prompts. Plug the SIPs back in one at a time, and they would display, but once the session timed out, the key sequence would do nothing once again. Don't know if this is what you have, but I do know that certain SIPs can interact with your firmware to cause this symptom - my bigger problem now, is that when I try to update with the newer firmware (d2_0_13_english.fl) I get a message: "Unable to upgrade the firmware. Reason: Incompatible file."

this phones doesnt got support for standard SIP protocol, so its not supported by any major voip provider.
