External antenna support for Dlink 2730b.

You should be able to. Most Dlink wireless boxes use a RP-SMA (rp=reverse polarity) connector on the external antenna. So you make or buy a cable to go from the male RP-SMA on the box to whatever is on the antenna (female RP-SMA obviously if you use the same antenna).

If you are going to go to the trouble, I would suggest buying a better antenna also. A directional like the small parabolic dishes work well if getting the signal from once direction.

Hi, can i attach an external wireless antenna for NETGEAR WGR614v9 router??

Hi,

Please note that it is not possible to attach an external antenna to this router as it does not suppport detachable antenna. To extend the wireless range I would suggest you to upgrade your router with a powerful router say WNR2000 or WNR834Bv2

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue.

If I have helped you, please help me, and rate this suggestion the highest FixYa rating. If you cannot rate this post with the highest rating, then please comment to this post and I will try to help you further.

Regards
Anand

Will a netopia 3-d reach wireless adapter work with my 2wire 3800hgv-b router from u-verse?

if you are wanting to run stricktly wireless then no if your router is not wireless ready. If it only has wired connections and not wireless capable you will have to be wired into it using a cable.

Can't get my netgear PCI Adapter connected to my 2wire 1800hw broadband

You will need to modify the router configuration rather than the adapter to setup port forwarding. Normally Network Address Translation (NAT) will allow most of your services to connect without issue.

normally in this router the wireless is turned off by default, get into the settings and enable it, although it will only flash when there is a wireless connection attempt from a wireless adapter.

What type of wire to use bet. ext. antenna and wireless pci card?

20 meters is a LONG way to go with an antenna wire for this application. Generally it is not recommended to extend the wire between the card and the antebba more than 3 meters. You would need to use thick, low-loss, cable that is very expensive. But if you must, computer stores sell extension cables.
