Makita electric drill

The wires on my drill are totally frayed. It still works but looks pretty scary.   Can you instruct me how to replace the wire? I really like this drill and would like to repair it.   Thank you. Hannah

What drill is it, and which wires are frayed? In most cases you can just get some cable/wire from a toolshop/repair centre and with the tool unplugged rplace like for like. If you ask at a repair centre they could probably supply you with a wiring diagram if it is a manufacturer that they deal with.

The header lists 2 different tools but if you give me the model number I will find a cord set for you and the wiring diagram that you need. If you also give me the area (US only) I will try and find someone local that has what you need.

My Makita 6402 drill stopped working. I press the trigger and it does not make any noise at all

You will need to have someone take it a part and see where the problem lies.
Start with the electrical plug, both the wall plug and inside the drill where the wire attaches to the switch.
Often, the switch is the problem, but the wire itself can be bad, if the cord is worn.
There is such a thing as the wire separating inside the cord.
We will hope the unit is not "toast".
God bless your efforts.

Variable speed not working, the trigger is either full on or off. speed switch 1 or 2 works

Replace the switch because a power mosfet inside is defect

650583-6 look for that switch partnumber also ferify it because this is for the model in the netherlands but most time its the same by Makita and its not to expensive will succeed to replace succes. but be careful when pulling out the wires using a thin watch screwdriver to push the unlock holes next to the connector contacts.

Plugged my Makita Makita 7.2 18 volt ni-mh or li-ion battery Charger into 24O volt by mistake HELP

The circuit board is protected by means of a fuse and a varistor. The variatistor looks like a painted coin (penny-size) with a wire attached on each side. This is connected in parallel of the chargers main supply. The varistors job is to shortcircuit the main power (this causes the fuse to nlow) in the event of too high voltage, thus protecting the rest of the electronics.
you need A new varistor, new fuse and some basic soldering skulle.

enjoy :-)

Makita 14.4v wont work in forward

I would suggest going to the Makita site and downloading a breakdown for this tool first. The switch replacement is not that difficult to do. If you are comfortable with taking the tool apart to look for debris (possibly pieces of fan) that would restrict movement. Sometimes if it breaks pieces get behing the trigger and won't allow it to shift, if it is broken you need a new motor. Pay close atttention to the wiring it is polarity sensitive and if nott rewired correctly will burn up a new switch. Hope this helps but like I said it is not that a major repair if you just take your time and watch how things come apart.

the gearbox is good, what the problem is,is the nylon speed change ring that goes on the outside of the gearbox that takes the power of the gearbox, the end of the teeth, about 2mm or less strip making only noise when in 2nd or 3rd gear,,they sell it with the new gearbox and charge you,,,,,but you can buy it separatly,,,the part no.419558-2,,pick key 01820914
