Question about LG WM1814CW Front Load Washer

LG WM1814CW Front Load Washer bearing and drum assembly required

Innitially this machine was very quiet and worked well, however it started getting louder and louder so I called in a repairman and he said it was a bearing and drum assembly which would cost $500 for parts and then labour. Unfortunately I could not afford that. I am currently using an old machine I had stored away. Is there any way I can get this fixed at a reasonable price or break it down for parts so that it doesn't all go to landfill? The machine is appx 7 years old and worked well until this. I did have some error codes at times and it was usually to empty the drain filter or uneven loads, but nothing came up for the final usage when it just stopped working. Any input is appreciated. PS I live in Canada.

It sounds like the tub bearing is causing the problem. To replace this bearing is a massive task so a professional might be required to do the job.

I had same problem. It was actually wearing out the rubber gasket on front door. It ended up being the spider on back of drum. They corrode pretty good with the front loaders.

You will need to remove the back cover plate of the machine and locate the large pulley at the end of the drum. Remove the belt, then the pulley and you should see a bearing housing. Some models require a bearing and housing replacement, while others can simply be repaired with a bearing replacement alone.
Go here, and find the nearest Dealer for your part.

Or you can try ordering direct from LG. If you are as handy with tools as you say, this should be a fairly easy job.

You may have a bearing problem and it will need to be looked at by a qualified LG technician.  That is a big job and will require total disassembly of the tub and drum assembly to get to the bearings.  There are 2 of them.
