I have a old chimney flue which is uncovered letting rain water in what do i need

You don't need a plumber what you need is to have the flue inspected to make sure that the water you are getting is from the opening on the top of the flue. If it is the opening that is causing the problem it will need to be capped. This can be done by an individual that specializes in flue work as well as an inspection of the flue. Some masons will do this type of work.

It may be the type of coal you're burning. Have you tried burning anthracite coal rather than Bituminous coal? It's a little more expensive, but it burns cleaner. Also, you may need to open the air intake a bit with what you're currently burning. That way it will burn a little hotter and hopefully cleaner.

I have an older Tappan gas range. There is a

If you are referring to the top of the oven cavity itself (the ceiling in the oven) you may be describing the flue gasket and flue that is mounted on the top of the oven cavity. The part numbers are 316116600 and 316204401, respectively.

If you are referring to the top panel of the stove directly under the console, and in back of the surface burners, you may be describing the oven vent opening. It is normal for this vent to have oven heat escaping it. That's what it is for. That's also why you do not leave anything on the stove top while baking. There is a vent cover that is supposed to install over the opening. The part number is 316104500.

If the model number is correct, you can refer to pcappliancerepair.com for illustrated parts listings. The flue gasket and flue are listed under the "Body" section as items 35 and 36, respectively.

The top vent cover is listed under the Top/Drawer section as item 25.

Please review the parts listings for clarification. If I have identified the wrong parts, based on your description, or if the model number is not correct, please post back and let me know. I hope this helps you.

Hi,

You will need to install a flue liner ( i know its a nuisance) to allow the products of combustion to escape as quickly and as safely as possible.

If you installed a gas appliance without a liner, due to the temperature of the flue gases (lower than solid fuel) the emissions would struggle to exit via the flue terminal.

If you install the appliance following the manufacturers instructions, you cannot go wrong. The other recommendation is get a 'Gas Safe' engineer to carry out the commssioning/testing.(house insurance void if not certified)

I hope this helps.

Sta rite 400na gives error code 05 after about 30 seconds

I am not sure if you have received an answer to the issue, or not, but just in case! An EO5 error code is an open stack flue sensor, or switch, There are two forms of the stack flue sensor, so you will need to know which one you have on the heater.

What this error code means is that the sensor "read" the flue temp to be over 500 degrees. Usually, it is just gone bad and reading the wrong temp.

RED HOT FLUE EXHAUST

Hello. Yes this is normal for this type of fryer, meant more to cook the product, as efficiently as possible, and guzzle gas pretty good. If the orange is near the bottom of the flue, that is pretty good, there is , or should be insulation on the outside of the flue, or if the air gap is large enough, no insulation at all. Not getting near the exhaust pipe is advisable, or you will be burned. The gas pressure is important thought, if the burners are over/under pressured, it will affect the burn enough to damage, and shorten the life of the fry vessel. Call a local authorized servicer and have a check up, will not be free, but will save expense of something not being correct, most places, you pay an hour to check it good enough.

Hope that helped, and thank you.

No Hot water

Does the unit light manually with a match while the igniter is trying? If it does the problem may be the same as on my personal Bosch 1600H:

I can't guarantee this will fix yours, but it did fix my Bosch 1600H:

I have positively identified the cause of my problems and know how to fix it.

It was TOO MUCH DRAFT ON WINDY DAYS.

I opened the side of the seven inch diameter tee that goes to my old conventional heater, and it lights every time regardless of wind. I held a paper up to the open side of the tee and it sucked up and closed the opening and stuck there from the suction. Evidently I had so much draft that the little bit of gas from the pilot was being sucked right up and out of the flue before it could light.

I will re-do my vent to leave an opening to prevent suction from being concentrated in the Bosch. Our tests with this idea have yielded a perfect ‘firing record’!

Add a tee to your flue (you will have to cap it or add an elbow to take it below the outlet of the tee before using the heater, but it needs to stay open for a couple quick tests). Take a flat sheet of typing paper and see if it will '****' to the open branch of the tee and remain there. If it does you may have too much suction (draw) in the flue. The strong suction does not allow the gas of the pilot to light before the gas is dissipated up and out the flue. With the paper removed (SIDE OF TEE OPEN TO THE ATMOSPHERE) test to see if your heater lights every time. If it does you have the cause--TOO MUCH DRAFT. Add an elbow pointing down to the side of the tee. If you want you can put another 1-foot piece of pipe in the bottom of the elbow, but it really only needs to grade up to the flue that goes out of your house to keep flue gases from entering your home.

We just proved this today with my heater, and I am SO HAPPY ABOUT IT!
